  1. 1. Forest for rest : recovery from exhaustion disorder

    Författare :Elisabet Sonntag-Öström; Lisbeth Slunga Järvholm; Ann Dolling; Ylva Lundell; Maria Nordin; Marie Åsberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Burnout; nature-assisted therapy; rehabilitation; forestry; stress disorders; environmental medicine; restoration; human health; well-being; folkhälsa; Public health;

    Sammanfattning : Background Exhaustion disorder (ED) is a common mental and behavioural disorder which often leads to severe negative consequences for the individual and the society. 2. 2. Cardiovascular function after long-term bed rest

    Författare :Jonas Spaak; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Microgravity; simulated weightlessness; carotid baroreflex; static exercise; muscle chemoreflex; orthostasis; tilting; leg exercise; blood pressure; heart rate; stroke volume;

    Sammanfattning : On earth, daily activities involve standing, changes of posture and various types of muscle action, all of which challenge the cardiovascular regulation. Removal of the orthostatic stress for a longer period, as during spaceflight or head-down tilt bed rest, consistently results in cardiovascular deconditioning. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Perioperative nutrition and insulin resistance

    Författare :Monika Svanfeldt; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Insulin sensitivity; insulin resistance; hyperinsulinaemic normoglycaemic clamps; wholebody glucose kinetics; whole-body protein kinetics; indirect calorimetry; surgery; carbohydrate loading; hypocaloric nutrition; bed rest and TPN;

    Sammanfattning : Surgical trauma induces a catabolic response with development of insulin resistance as a central and well-characterised feature. In insulin resistance, the stimulating effect of insulin on peripheral glucose uptake and the suppressing effect of insulin on endogenous glucose release are decreased, resulting in hyperglycaemia.
