   Sammanfattning : This dissertation, When Dance Became Modern (När dansen blev modern), deals with theatrical dance in Sweden between 1930 and 1960 from a historiographical perspective and assumes that dance is interwoven with socio-cultural contexts. 3. 2. The dancer : physical effort, muscle fibre types, and energy intake and expenditure

   Sammanfattning : The aims of this thesis were: - to estimate aerobic fitness in dancers and analyse possible changes during a three-year dance course and after a detraining period; to compare different dance styles with regard to the duration of single exercises and the following rest periods; - to estimate the physical effort in dancers during training sessions in different styles of dance; - to compare the physical effort during training sessions in dance teachers with that of dance students; - to illuminate whether a deviating muscle fibre type distribution, if any, were training-induced or the result of selection of individuals with suitable fibre characteristics, muscle fibre type distribution was compared between children, at the very beginning of their professional dance training and dancers, who had performed professional dance training for 10 years. Moreover, muscle fibre type composition was analysed in dancers after detraining. LÄS MER

   Sammanfattning : This doctoral artistic research project addresses the possibility of a dance withdrawn from that neoliberal scheme accordingto which self-performance, entrepreneurship and the production of subjectivity rule. Taking as a starting point the dissident corporealities that have emerged in the last fifty years in Western contemporary experimental dance; the project involvesaesthetic, philosophical and socio-political perspectives, carried out on choreographic, performative, textual, audiovisual, curatorial and discursive media. As the in-between cannot be defined ahead of the rhythmic process it carries out and of which it is a part – a rhythm inherent in the city itself and in knowledge production – it is necessary to produce rhythmic relations between bodies, sites and concepts.
