  1. 1. Analysis of Excavation Damage, Rock Mass Characterisation and Rock Support Design using Drilling Monitoring

    Författare :Jeroen van Eldert; Håkan Schunnesson; Daniel Johansson; David Saiang; Thomas Dalmalm; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Blast damage; Excavation Damage Zone; EDZ; Measurement While Drilling; MWD; Rock support; Rock mass characterisation; Tunnelling; Mining and Rock Engineering; Gruv- och berganläggningsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Prior to an underground excavation a site investigation is carried out. This includes reviewing and analysing existing data, field data collected through outcrop mapping, drill core logging and geophysical investigations. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Zone Plates for Hard X-Ray Free-Electron Lasers

    Författare :Daniel Nilsson; Ulrich Vogt; Thomas Tschentscher; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; X-ray optics; Zone plates; XFEL; x-rays; free-electron laser; heat transfer;

    Sammanfattning : Hard x-ray free-electron lasers are novel sources of coherent x-rays with unprecedented brightness and very short pulses. The radiation from these sources enables a wide range of new experiments that were not possible with previous x-ray sources. Many of these experiments require the possibility to focus the intense x-ray beam onto small samples. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Rock damage caused by underground excavation and meteorite impacts

    Författare :Ann Bäckström; Robert Zimmerman; John A Hudson; Flavio Lanaro; Pekka Särkkä; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Excavation Damage Zone EDZ ; Fracture analysis; Pre-existing fractures; Class II behaviour; 3D laser scanning; Impact fracturing; Geoengineering; Geoteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The intent of this thesis is to contribute to the understanding of the origin of fractures in rock. The man-made fracturing from engineering activities in crystalline rock as well as the fracturing induced by the natural process of meteorite impacts is studied by means of various characterization methods. 4. 4. Failure of thin-walled structures under impact loading

    Författare :Salar Mostofizadeh; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; shells; rate dependence; Phantom node method; cohesive zone; Continuum damage; XFEM; ductile fracture;

    Sammanfattning : Increase in computational power during recent years contributed to a significant development in numerical methods in mechanics. There are many methods developed that address various complex problems, yet modelling of initiation and propagation of failure in thin-walled structures requires further development. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Constitutive behaviour and fracture toughness of an adhesive layer

    Författare :Anders Biel; Högskolan i Skövde; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; adhesive layer; DCB-specimen; experimental method; modus I; peel; standardized methods; damage zone; stress whitening; Engineering mechanics; Teknisk mekanik; Teknik; Technology;

    Sammanfattning : This report presents the fracture energy and the complete stress – elongation relation for a structural adhesive loaded in modus I. The experiments are performed on the Double Cantilever Beam (DCB) specimen and the method to analyse the experiments is based on the J-integral approach which means that the energy release rate, i.e. LÄS MER
