1. Optical Analysis of biological media - continuous wave diffuse spectroscopy
Sammanfattning : The main topic of this thesis is real-time quantification of relevant chromophores and light scattering elements in biological media. The presented methods and instrumentation are based on continuous wave (steady-state) optical measurements of (a) spatially-resolved diffuse reflectance from bulk media and (b) combined spatially-resolved and goniometric measurements of re-emitted light from thin samples. 2. The influence of adhesion molecules on binding and protein organization in cell contacts
Sammanfattning : Interactions between immune cells such as T cells and antigen-presenting cells (APCs) are integral for mounting an adaptive immune response. The interaction between the T cell receptor (TCR) and the antigen-presenting major histocompatibility complex (pMHC) on a contacting T cell and APC, is widely accepted to be the key interaction. 3. Tailings Dam Performance : Modeling and Safety Analysis of a Tailings dam
Sammanfattning : Storage and management of mine waste are both needed in the mining industry. After mineral extraction of the ore, there are generally leftovers with insufficient economical value that need to be taken care of. The finest grained fractions are referred to as tailings. LÄS MER
4. NMR studies of DNA structure and counterion behaviour
Sammanfattning : DNA is a polymer of nucleotides, each nucleotide consisting of a negatively charged phosphate group, a ribose sugar unit, and a purine or pyrimidine base. The secondary structure of DNA is commonly a double-helix with Watson-Crick paired bases. Several secondary structures, all with these features, are observed for DNA. LÄS MER
5. The Dynamics of Extratextual Translatorship in Contemporary Sweden : A Mixed Methods Approach
Sammanfattning : This thesis is concerned with Swedish translators and the society in which they work. It begins with an exploration of the concept of translatorship, leading up to a three-part distinction of 1) textual translatorship, 2) paratextual translatorship, and 3) extratextual translatorship.
