  1. 21. Interleukin-6 Signaling Pathways in Human Vascular Endothelial Cells : Molecular Mechanisms and Associations to Atherosclerosis

    Författare :Mulugeta Melkie Zegeye; Liza Ljungberg; Allan Sirsjö; Ashok K Kumawat; Magnus Grenegård; Stefan Rose-John; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; HUVECs; Angiogenesis; Laminins; Transmigration; Biomarker; Cytokine; Inflammation; Myocardial infarction;

    Sammanfattning : Interleukin-6 is pleotropic cytokine produced by several types of cells including endothelial cells (ECs). IL-6 acts on target cells via two major signaling mechanisms known as classic signaling and trans-signaling. LÄS MER

  2. 22. In vitro wound healing characteristics of amelogenins

    Författare :Sofia Almqvist; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; amelogenins; extracellular matrix; cell culture; macrophage; fibroblast; endothelial cell; integrin; cytokine; inflammation; wound healing tissue repair;

    Sammanfattning : Wound healing involves the co-ordinated actions of several cell types, soluble cell mediators and extracellular matrix (ECM). This research project intended to investigate the role of certain ECM proteins in different processes during tissue repair by studying the interaction between dermal cells and ECM. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Commensal microbes, immune reactivity and childhood inflammatory bowel disease

    Författare :Cecilia Barkman; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Inflammatory bowel disease; IBD; Pediatric; Childhood; Microbiota; T cells; B cells; cytokine; IL-12; monocytes; phagocytosis; intracellular signaling pathway; Crohn s disease; ulcerative colitis; children; flora;

    Sammanfattning : Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is characterized by chronic and relapsing intestinal inflammation of unknown etiology, but immune activation by the commensal microbiota probably plays a major role. The two major categories of IBD are ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Hematopoiesis in a Crustacean

    Författare :Xionghui Lin; Irene Söderhäll; Kenneth Söderhäll; Michael J. Williams; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; astakine; cytokine; hematopoiesis; prokineticin; transglutaminase; ATP synthase; innate immunity; apoptosis; Immunology; Immunologi; Biology with specialization in Comparative Physiology; Biologi med inriktning mot jämförande fysiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Hemocytes (blood cells) play an important role in the immune response in invertebrates, and thus the regulation of hemocyte homeostasis (hematopoiesis) is essential for the host survival against pathogens. Astakine 1, a homologue to vertebrate prokineticins, was first identified in the freshwater crayfish Pacifastacus leniusculus as a cytokine, and was found to be necessary for new hemocyte synthesis and release in vivo, and also to induce spreading and proliferation of Hematopoietic tissue cells (Hpt cells, precursor of hemocytes) in vitro. 5. 25. Metabolic effects of interleukin-6

    Författare :Ingrid Wernstedt; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :IL-6; cytokine; obesity; energy expenditure; lipolysis; ASP; sympathetic nervous system; exercise; -174 G C IL-6 polymorphism; fat mass; stress response; cerebrospinal fluid;

    Sammanfattning : The levels of the cytokine interleukin-6 (IL-6) in the circulation are positively correlated with indices of obesity and metabolic disturbances. Paradoxically, plasma IL-6 levels increase markedly during prolonged and strenuous exercise, mainly due to increased production and release from working skeletal muscle. LÄS MER
