  1. 1. The effects of cyclosporin A on bone turnover and repair

    Författare :Anders Ekelund; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; Cyclosporin A; osteoinduction; osteoconduction; bone turnover; fracture healing; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi; Orthopaedics; ortopedi;

    Sammanfattning : The effects of cyclosporin A on bone metabolism are unclear and controversial. The aims of this thesis were to study the effects of cyclosporin A on bone turnover and on different repair processes such as fracture healing, osteoinduction and osteoconduction. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Regulation of T lymphocyte activity : studies using monoclonal antibodies and cyclosporin A

  3. 3. Effects and mechanisms of actions of cyclosporin, FK506 and 15-deoxyspergualin

    Författare :Anette Johansson Borg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :cyclosporin; FK506; 15-deoxyspergualin; immunosuppressive effects; transplantation;

    Sammanfattning : Immunosuppressive drugs can be used to deal with unwanted or inappropriate immune reactions, such as the rejection of a transplanted organ. However, treatment with these drugs are often associated with serious adverse effects, and therefore less toxic immunosuppressants are desired. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Effects of immunosuppressive drugs on human adipose tissue metabolism

    Författare :Maria J Pereira; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cyclosporin A; tacrolimus; rapamycin; glucocorticoids; new onset diabetes after transplantation; adipocytes; insulin signalling; glucose uptake; lipolysis; lipogenesis;

    Sammanfattning : The immunosuppressive agents (IAs) rapamycin, cyclosporin A and tacrolimus, as well as glucocorticoids are used to prevent rejection of transplanted organs and to treat autoimmune disorders. Despite their desired action on the immune system, these agents have serious long-term metabolic side-effects, including dyslipidemia and new onset diabetes mellitus after transplantation. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Calcium-induced mitochondrial permeability transition in CNS-derived mitochondria - Pharmacological aspects of specificity and toxicity in neuroprotection

    Författare :Roland Månsson; Sektion IV; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cyclosporin A; mitochondria; brain; calcium; respiration; cell death; permeability transition; calcium retention; minocycline; neuroprotection; Debio 025;

    Sammanfattning : Mitochondria are the main site for energy conversion in the cell. Under certain circumstances, such as excess calcium retention or production of reactive oxygen species, a pore forms at contact sites between the outer and the normally impermeable inner mitochondrial membrane.
