16. Aromatic Allylation via Diazotization; Application in synthesis of heterocyclic compounds
Sammanfattning : A new method for allylation of aromatic systems has been developed. A number of arylamines were converted via diazotization to the corresponding allylaromatic compounds using tert-butyl nitrite and an excess of allylic bromides with complete regioselectivity. Electron-withdrawing groups, in the aromatic moiety, were necessary to obtain good yields. LÄS MER
17. Employment of Palladium Pincer Complex Catalysts and Lewis Acids for Synthesis and Transformation of Organometallic Compounds
Sammanfattning : This thesis is mainly focused on the development of new palladium catalyzed transformations using so-called “pincer” complexes. These complexes were applied as catalysts in two important areas of organometallic chemistry: substitution of propargylic substrates by dimetallic reagents; and allylation of aldehydes and imines by allylstannanes. 18. Dopachrome and aminochrome, the oxidized metabolites of dopa and dopamine : studies on the molecular mechanisms underlying their reduction and conjugation with glutathione
Sammanfattning : Dopamine, like other catecholamines can be oxidized to the corresponding ortho-quinone, which undergoes cyclization of its amino chain to cyclized dopamine ortho-quinone (aminochrome). Both o-quinones are toxic metabolites that may contribute to neurotoxic effects of these catecholamines. LÄS MER
19. Low-Coordinate Organopnictogens : Synthesis and Optoelectronic properties
Sammanfattning : This thesis work is based on the development of novel organopnictogen compounds and the exploration of their potential applications in organic electronics. In particular, incorporation of phosphorus and arsenic into π-conjugated systems is known to modify the optoelectronic properties. LÄS MER
20. Microgel Interactions with Peptides and Proteins : Consequence of Peptide and Microgel Properties
Sammanfattning : Microgels are lightly cross-linked hydrogel particles in the sub-micrometer to micrometer size range with a capacity to drastically change their volume in response to changes in the external environment. Microgels have an ability to bind and store substances such as biomacromolecular drugs, notably proteins and peptides, and release them upon stimuli, making them potential candidates as drug delivery vehicles and functional biomaterials.
