Sammanfattning : This study focuses on mediated representations of Europe during Euromaidan and the subsequent Ukraine–Russia crisis, analysing empirical material from Ukraine, Poland and Russia. The material includes articles from nine newspapers, diverse in terms of political and journalistic orientation, as well as interviews with journalists, foreign policymakers and experts, drawing also on relevant policy documents as well as online and historical sources. 4. Stoutwear and the Discourses of Disorder : Constructing the Fat, Female Body in American Fashion in the Age of Standardization, 1915-1930
Sammanfattning : This dissertation examines how fashion media discourses created the conditions through which the fat, female body was both known and constructed within the context of the early large-size garment industry in the United States, or what between the years 1915 and 1930 was known as “stoutwear.” Drawing on a wide array of media sources, including women’s and fashion magazines, trade journals, catalogs and style guides, and employing Michel Foucault’s archaeological method, the dissertation examines the productive nature of fashion discourse in the construction and constitution of the fleshy body, or how the discourses of stoutwear brought order to the disorderly, fat, female body. 5. Det våras för journalisten : Symboler och handlingsmönster för den svenska pressens medarbetare från 1870-tal till 1930-tal
Sammanfattning : Syftet med denna avhandling är att analysera hur den svenska pressens medarbetare representerades i olika medier från 187o-talet till 193o-talet, hur och varför representationerna förändrades, och hur tidningsrnedarbetare förhöll sig till dem. Representationerna av tidningsrnedarbetare i romaner, noveller, film, presshistoriska arbeten, debatter och karikatyrer formade bilden av yrket i offentligheten. LÄS MER
