  1. 1. Understanding Crustal Volatiles : Provenance,  Processes and Implications

    Författare :Lara S. Blythe; Valentin Troll; Ralf Gertisser; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; crustal volatiles; helium; carbon; volcanic gases and fluids; xeno-pumice; magma-carbonate interaction; upper crustal contamination;

    Sammanfattning : Knowledge of the provenance of crustal volatiles and the processes by which they are released is extremely important for the dynamics of magmatic systems. Presented here are the results of multiple investigations, which aim to understand magmatic volatile contamination from contrasting but complementary perspectives. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Constraining the timing of veins, faults and fractures in crystalline rocks by in situ Rb-Sr geochronology

    Författare :Mikael Tillberg; Henrik Drake; Mats E. Åström; Thomas Zack; Johan Hogmalm; Bjarne Almqvist; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; geochronology; brittle deformation; crustal fluids; mineral precipitation; ancient microbial activity; Precambrian craton; Scandinavia; Natural Science; Naturvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Precambrian cratons are continent cores archiving the oldest crustal histories on Earth. The crystalline basement of cratons is typically characterized by complex arrays of multiple fracture and fault generations hosting minerals formed by fluids flowing through fracture networks. 3. 3. The crustal architecture of the central Skellefte district, Sweden : Structural analysis, setting of VMS deposits and 3D-modelling

    Författare :Tobias E. Bauer; Allan Gibbs; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Malmgeologi; Ore Geology;

    Sammanfattning : The Skellefte district in northern Sweden is a Palaeoproterozoic volcanic arc hosting abundant volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) deposits. The dominating rocks in the district are submarine volcanic and volcaniclastic rocks of the Skellefte Group deposited in an extensional regime at 1.89–1.88 Ga. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Metamorphism in the roots of mountain belts and its effect on rock technical properties : A case study of the Eastern Segment, Sveconorwegian orogen

    Författare :Cindy Urueña; Berggrundsgeologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sveconorwegian; metamorphism; hydrous fluids; microtextures; recrystallization; aggregate properties;

    Sammanfattning : Deciphering the metamorphic evolution of the roots of mountain belts is essential for understanding deep tectonic processes involved in mountain building. The Sveconorwegian orogen in southwestern Scandinavia, formed during the Rodinia assembly in the transition between the Mesoproterozoic and Neoproterozoic Eras, has been exhumed and provides access to interior deep structural levels of the ancient mountain belt. 5. 5. Seismic quiescence patterns and earthquake prediction research : Testing hypotheses for Greece and China

    Författare :Gerasimos Chouliaras; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap; Geofysik med inriktning mot seismologi; Geophysics with specialization in Seismology;

    Sammanfattning : The main aim of this investigation is to evaluate the most well known hypotheses and models in earthquake prediction research. For this reason we investigate the "localized" seismic quiescence hypothesis using the Z value griding method as well as the recently introduced Seismolap hypothesis of "extended" seismic quiescence.
