36. Fullerene-like carbon nitride thin solid films
Sammanfattning : The subject of this thesis is to establish synthesis-structure-property- performance relations for nano structured carbon nitride thin solid films. This material consists of bent and frequently intersecting nitrogen-containing graphite basal planes, where nitrogen plays an important role for the initiation of inter-planar cross-links and the induction of curvature via pentagon formation, much like in Buckminster Fullerenes - hence, the terminology "fullerene-like carbon nitride". 37. Links between activation and cytoskeletal regulation of B lymphocytes
Sammanfattning : Interplay between adhesion molecules and the cytoskeleton is involved in many aspects of B lymphocyte behaviour during an immune response. Events such as cell polarisation and locomotion, collaboration with T lymphocytes and segregation in secondary lymphoid tissues all include mechanisms that recognise microenvironment and accordingly adjust morphological features of the cell. 38. Why Is It So Hard to Kill a Mast Cell?A Study of Mast Cell Activation and Survival
Sammanfattning : Mast cells have a long life in tissues, where they are involved in inflammatory and hypersensitivity reactions. Activation through cross-linking of the high-affinity IgE-receptor (FcεRI) is a primary stimulus capable of degranulating mast cells, contributing to symptoms of allergy. LÄS MER
39. Intramembranous arrangement of phospholipids and dolichol in microsomal and model membranes
Sammanfattning : The transfer of phospholipids from the endoplasmic reticulum to the inner mitochondrial membrane was investigated by pulse labeling in vivo. With [3H]gIycerol microsomal phosphatidylethanoiamine and phosphatidylcholine were rapidly labeled during the first 30 min; while maximum incorporation into the inner mitochondrial membrane occured only after about 5 hours. 40. Modular Hyaluronan-Based Hydrogels for 3D Cell Culture and Bioprinting
Sammanfattning : Three-dimensional (3D) cell culture facilitates development of biological relevant assays for drug screening and toxicity testing. Compared to conventional 2D cell culture, cells cultured in 3D can more accurately mimic human tissues and organs and thus provide ex vivo data with potentially better predictive value for cancer research, pharmacology, and toxicology, reducing the need for animal models, improving experimental reproducibility, and reducing time and costs in drug development.
