21. Temporal Modulation in Fluorescence Spectroscopy and Imaging for Biological Applications
Sammanfattning : This thesis explores the benefits of intensity modulation for the purpose of extending the range of applications of fluorescence spectroscopy and imaging in cellular and molecular biology and medicine. Long-lived transient states of fluorescent molecules can, because of their long lifetimes, be used to detect subtle changes in the microenvironment of the molecule. LÄS MER
22. Fluorescence Studies of Membranes -- Proteins and Lipids, their Dynamics and Interactions
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, fluorescence spectroscopy was utilized to probe protein and lipid dynamics and interactions in their native, or close to native, environments. Thereby insight could be gained into the fundamentals of bacterial cell division and the innateimmune system. A particular focus has been devoted to fluorescence fluctuations. LÄS MER
23. Toward fully automatic earthquake detection and processing for tomography in the Hengill area
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the automation of seismic data analysis, in particular, event detection, quality assessment of detected events, and preparation of an earthquake catalogue for seismic tomography. The developed event detector uses back-propagation and stacking of a seismic trace attribute with a known velocity model to detect and locate events. 24. Characterization of interfaces by elastic light scattering and profilometry
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the characterization of interfaces by elastic light scattering and profilometry. The sensitivity of scattering measurements to surface topography were used in two major ways. It was shown that surface reactions in a liquid-solid interface can be monitored in situ in terms of changes in surface roughness. LÄS MER
25. High Resolution Transmission Spectroscopy of Exoplanets
Sammanfattning : A large number of exoplanets has been observed in the last three decades, but still for most of them we know comparatively little about the atmospheres of these distant planets. This is of particular interest as there exist types of planets that don't have an analogy in our own solar system, like hot Jupiters or super Earths. LÄS MER
