11. Ion Tracks for Micro- and Nanofabrication : From Single Channels to Superhydrophobic Surfaces
Sammanfattning : A method is described for preset-count irradiations between 1 and 100 ions singling-out individual ions from an ion beam with more than a billion ions arriving per second. The ion tracks are etched in a conductometric system with real-time evaluation of the acquired data. The etch process can be interrupted when reaching a preset channel diameter. LÄS MER
12. Toward Anti-icing and De-icing Surfaces : Effects of Surface Topography and Temperature
Sammanfattning : Icing severely affects society, especially in the Nordic countries. Iceaccumulation can result in critical performance problems and safetyconcerns for instance in road, air and sea transportation, transmissionlines, marine and offshore structures, wind turbines and heat exchangers. 13. Methods for Characterisation of Pressing Die Surfaces
Sammanfattning : Design and manufacture of dies and moulds is a critical aspect of many production systems since the manufacturing and try-out of new dies and moulds often is essential in determining the lead-time and quality of a new production system. In the automotive industry, many new car models are introduced each year and for each of these models, a new set of pressing dies has to be designed and manufactured. LÄS MER
14. Dynamics of Enzymes at Interfaces : Lipase adsorption and mobility on solid surfaces
Sammanfattning : This thesis aimed to give more insight in the dynamics of enzymes at interfaces. The adsorption and mobility of adsorbed proteins can e.g. give a better understanding of structure-function properties of interfacially active enzymes. LÄS MER
15. Thermohydrodynamics of sliding contacts with textured surfaces
Sammanfattning : Hydrodynamic sliding contacts like those found in journal or thrust bearings are frequently encountered in various types of machinery from computers to large turbines. These contacts, involving a variation in film thickness, are used to generate pressure in the lubricant film and separate the surfaces in relative motion. LÄS MER
