16. Subcooled boiling flow in liquid-cooled internal combustion engines
Sammanfattning : Road transport sector contributes significantly to emission of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases, which negatively impact the global climate. Efficient management of energy, irrespective of the type of propulsion, has the potential to minimize fuel consumption and to reduce emission of greenhouse gases. LÄS MER
17. Kinetic investigations of combustion of small oxygenated aliphatic hydrocarbons – modeling and experiments
Sammanfattning : The depletion of oil reserves and the increasingly stringent European Union regulation of air pollution have forced researchers and manufacturers to search for cleaner and sustainable substitutes to petroleum‐based transportation fuels. Biofuels like small aliphatic alcohols are of increasing interest as alternatives to fossil fuels, as they offer long‐term fuel‐source regenerability. LÄS MER
18. Downstream Processing Using Membrane Technology
Sammanfattning : Membrane filtration is a very gentle separation technique and can be used at low temperatures. This makes it suitable for liquids that contain micro-organisms and/or are heat sensitive, which is often the case in liquids processed in the field of biotechnology. LÄS MER
19. Efficient finite element modelling and simulation of welding
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents development of methods, methodologies and tools for efficient finite element modelling and simulation of welding. A novel 8- to 16-noded solid shell element has been developed. It uses only displacement degrees of freedom, thus it can easily be connected with a regular brick element. LÄS MER
20. The isostatic pressure processing of high Tc superconductors and their properties
Sammanfattning : The high Tc superconductors are highly anisotropic, ceramic materials which makes it difficult to sinter them at atmospheric pressure to full density. High porosity is detrimental to their mechanical and electrical properties, so the use of isostatic pressures was used to give higher density materials with improved properties. LÄS MER
