  1. 11. On the Zero and Low Field Vortex Dynamics : An Experimental Study of Type-II Superconductors

    Författare :Örjan Festin; Peter Svedlindh; Piero Martinoli; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Engineering physics; high temperature superconductors; thermal fluctuations; YBCO; MgB2; anisotropic superconductors; vortex dynamics; Kosterlitz-Thouless transition; current voltage characteristics; complex conductivity; Flux noise; Teknisk fysik; Engineering physics; Teknisk fysik;

    Sammanfattning : Dynamic properties of type-II superconductors have been experimentally studied in zero and low magnetic fields using SQUID magnetometry and I–V measurements.In zero magnetic field close to the critical temperature, the physical properties of type-II superconductors are dominated by spontaneously created vortices. 2. 12. Mechanistic investigations of chemical reactions on 2D MXenes and metal surfaces from first-principles

    Författare :Kaifeng Niu; Jonas Björk; Johanna Rosén; Lifeng Chi; Daniele Passerone; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Density functional theory; 2D MXenes; On-surface synthesis; C-H activation; Electrochemical nitrogen reduction;

    Sammanfattning : Chemical reactions on surfaces play a central role both for our daily life and industrial purposes, including the storage and release of energy, as well as the formation of new materials. To achieve high efficiency, catalysis lies in the heart of chemical reactions as it plays a critical role in accelerating the chemical transformation to target products. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Coarse-Grained Models of Ionic Solutions

    Författare :Ryan Szparaga; Beräkningskemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Monte Carlo; Classical Density Functional Theory; Coarse-Grained Models; Ionic Liquids; Prewetting; Capillary Condensation; Electric Double Layer; Differential Capacitance.;

    Sammanfattning : Room-temperature ionic liquids (RTILs) are compounds composed entirely of ions, which are liquid at temperatures below 100 degrees Celsius. Their high ionic strength and strong coupling make them useful for a number of applications, e.g. as electrolytes in supercapacitors. LÄS MER

  4. 14. On the Properties of Some Strongly Correlated Systems - Analytical and Numerical Studies

    Författare :Jurij Smakov; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :mean field theory; magnetic multilayers; Curie temperature; compensation temperature; scanning tunneling microscopy; tunneling; superconductivity; local density of states; Josephson effect; tunneling Hamiltonian formalism; impurities in superconducto;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is dedicated to analytical and numerical studiesof a few models of strongly correlated systems and thedevelopment of techniques for such studies. The common name"strongly correlated" refers to systems in which theinteractions (correlations) between the constituent particleslead to nontrivial properties, such as various types ofmagnetism, superconductivity, and exotic phases. 5. 15. Organized self-help housing as an enabling shelter & development strategy. Lessons from current practice, institutional approaches and projects in developing countries

    Författare :Ivette Arroyo; Boende och bostadsutveckling; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Organized self-help housing; planing; capabilities approach; dweller-control; spatial agency; collective efficacy; community development; empowerment;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this study is to develop better understanding on organized self-help housing as an enabling shelter and development strategy to overcome poverty and build more resilient communities. The study addresses organized self-help housing from three different perspectives: a) current practice in developing countries; b) institutional approaches; and, c) the organized self-help housing process.
