  1. 1. Mechanical Properties of Welds at Creep Activation Temperatures

    Författare :Henrik C.M. Andersson-Östling; Rolf Sandström; Kamran Nikbin; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; creep; creep crack propagation; OFHC copper; welds; nuclear waste disposal; creep modeling; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Welds in materials intended for service at temperatures above the creep activation temperature often develop damage before the base metal. The weld is a discontinuity in the material and stresses and strains often accumulate in the weld. Knowledge of the properties of the weld is essential to the safe operation of the component containing the weld. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Failure of thermal barrier coatings under thermal and mechanical fatigue loading : microstructural observations and modelling aspects

    Författare :Håkan Brodin; Anette M. Karlsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :thermal barrier coating; TBC; delamination; crack initiation; crack propagation; crack growth; oxidation; alumina; spinel; MCrAIY; diffusion; fatigue; modelling; modeling; degradation; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : Industrial and air-borne gas turbine hot components suffer from creep, oxidation, corrosion and microstructural degradation if not shielded from the hot and aggressive combustion gases. Two major strategies commercially available are adopted; film cooling by pressurised air and application of protective coatings. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Crack growth in single crystal gas turbine blade alloys under service-like conditions

    Författare :Frans Palmert; Johan Moverare; David Gustafsson; Mikael Segersäll; Philippa A.S. Reed; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Single crystal superalloy; TMF; Crack growth; Crystallographic crack growth; Aging; Hold time; Creep crack growth;

    Sammanfattning : This work concerns the fatigue crack growth behaviour of nickel base single crystal superalloys. The main industrial application of this class of materials is in gas turbine blades, where the ability to withstand severe mechanical loading in combination with high temperatures is required. 4. 4. High-Temperature Durability Prediction of Ferritic-Martensitic Steel

    Författare :Ahmed Azeez; Robert Eriksson; Kjell Simonsson; Daniel Leidermark; Christer Persson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Ferritic-martensitic steel; Low cycle fatigue; Thermomechanical fatigue; Crack propagation; Fracture mechanics; Finite element modelling;

    Sammanfattning : Materials used for high-temperature steam turbine sections are generally subjected to harsh environments with temperatures up to 625 °C. The superior creep resistance of 9–12 % Cr ferritic-martensitic steels makes them desirable for those critical steam turbine components. LÄS MER

  5. 5. High-performance Nickel-based Superalloys for Additive Manufacturing

    Författare :Jinghao Xu; Johan Moverare; Ru Peng; Chinnapat Panwisawas; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Nickel-based superalloy; Alloy design; Laser powder bed fusion; Cracking susceptibility; Additive manufacturability; Heat treatment; γ′ precipitate; High-temperature mechanical property; Creep; Oxidation;

    Sammanfattning : Additive manufacturing (AM), e.g., laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) technique, has become a powerful manufacturing process for producing metallic components with the advantages of design freedom, net-shape-forming flexibility, product customization, and reduced lead time to market.
