  1. 11. Defining RCE1 and ICMT as Therapeutic Targets in K-RAS-induced Cancer

    Författare :Annika Wahlström; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :RCE1; ICMT; K-RAS; CAAX proteins; MPD; lung cancer;

    Sammanfattning : CAAX proteins, such as the RAS and RHO proteins, are recognized by a specific CAAX motif at the carboxyl terminus, which undergoes posttranslational modifications. First, a lipid group is attached to the cysteine (the “C”) of the CAAX motif by farnesyltransferase (FTase) or geranylgeranyltransferase-I (GGTase-I); second, the –AAX are removed by RAS converting enzyme 1 (RCE1); and third, the cysteine is methylated by isoprenylcysteine carboxyl methyltransferase (ICMT). 2. 12. Lymphatic Vascular Morphogenesis : From Progenitors to Functional Vessels

    Författare :Nina Daubel; Taija Mäkinen; Markus Affolter; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Lymphatic vasculature; morphogenesis; lymphvasculogenesis; mesentery; lymphatic capillary;

    Sammanfattning : The lymphatic vasculature is an important part of the circulatory system and crucial for normal functioning and maintenance of tissues. Yet, our understanding of the processes underlying lymphatic development and homeostasis are surprisingly limited. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Hox transcription factors in hematopoiesis

    Författare :Jon Mar Björnsson; Avdelningen för molekylärmedicin och genterapi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; extracellular fluids; Hematologi; extracellulära vätskor; Haematology; hematopoies; tet; Hox; cre lox;

    Sammanfattning : Hematopoiesis is a lifelong, dynamic process in which a small number of pluripotent hematopoietic stem cells (HSC) residing in the bone marrow (BM) give rise to billions of mature blood cells of both myeloid and lymphoid origin each day. This enormous capacity of HSC has been utilized in BM transplantations for 4 decades and is also very important for future gene therapy. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Peripheral Regulation of Pain and Itch

    Författare :Elín Ingibjörg Magnúsdóttir; Malin C. Lagerström; George H. Caughey; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pain; itch; CGRP; TRPV1; mast cell; mast cell protease; mMCP4; mMCP6; CPA3; endothelin-1; compound 48 80; MRGPRX2; single-stranded oligonucleotide;

    Sammanfattning : Pain and itch are diverse sensory modalities, transmitted by the somatosensory nervous system. Stimuli such as heat, cold, mechanical pain and itch can be transmitted by different neuronal populations, which show considerable overlap with regards to sensory activation. LÄS MER

  5. 15. The Importance of Isoprenylation and Nf1 Deficiency in K-RAS-induced Cancer

    Författare :Anna-Karin Sjögren; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :FTase; GGTase-I; isoprenylation; K-RAS; NF1; CAAX proteins; lung cancer; AML;

    Sammanfattning : The RAS and RHO family proteins contribute to tumorigenesis and metastasis and belong to a family of so called CAAX proteins. The membrane targeting and proper function of CAAX proteins are dependent on posttranslational isoprenylation by farnesyltransferase (FTase) or geranylgeranyltransferase type I (GGTase-I). LÄS MER
