    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; timber framing; marking; procedures; procedural description; scribing; craft skills; craft research; working methods; layout; developed drawing; compound joinery; invisible tools; practice-led;

    Sammanfattning : My thesis focuses on the marking procedures when building timber frames, from the idea of a construction to the cutting of the timbers. The marking procedures are essential parts of the building process, and without markings you don’t know where to cut. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Lerbaserad erfarenhet och språklighet

    Sammanfattning : During the course of the twentieth century, a doubt emerged – first within visual arts, and later also within crafts – where the relevance of the traditional way of making art was addressed, as were thoughts on what was termed ‘empty shape’. The notion that shape in itself was no longer artistically valid is closely linked to notions of materiality as hindrance, and immateriality as freedom – all of which have had a major influence on contemporary visual arts and crafts, in general, and, more specifically, on what I term ‘theory-practice’ within the field of crafts. 3. 23. Form-defining systems of reverse crafting

    Författare :Karin Peterson; Hanna Landin; Steve Royston Brown; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Form-defining systems; textile-form; transpositions; craft; Textiles and Fashion Design ; Textil och mode konstnärlig ;

    Sammanfattning : Textile-form as dress is often synonymous with the form-defining system of cut and assemble, and as such, cut and assemble can be argued as that which defines as well as restrains this discipline. The following work is an inquiry that aims to investigate alternative methods of form-thinking and manufacturing, and their aesthetic consequences for dress. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Gjutningens arenor : Metallhantverkets rumsliga, sociala och politiska organisation i södra Skandinavien under bronsåldern

    Sammanfattning : Production and use of metalwork in southern Scandinavia during the Bronze Age (1700-500 BC) has above all been attributed to emerging elites. That bronze was a source and medium for social power is evident from its use in socio-political and ritual spheres, the multiple skills and elaborate aesthetics involved in its crafting, and the arenas for influence and control offered by the acquisition of metals through long-distance exchange. 5. 25. CONCRETE FORM[ing]WORK : Design, Fabrication, Simulation and Correlation of Parametrically Patterned Flexible Formwork and Concrete

    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; concrete; flexible formwork; geometry; parametric patterning; craft; smocking; simulation; correlation; betong; flexibel formsättning; geometri; parametrisk mönsterkonstruktion; hantverk; smockning; simulering; korrelation; Architectural Technology; Arkitekturteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Concrete is one of the most commonly used construction materials, yet industrial fabrication continues to default to established standards of planar formwork and uniform cross-sections for the sake of simplicity and predictability. The research conducted within Concrete Form[ing]work explored alternative methods of producing concrete formwork with a simple, technical re-imagination of material: exchanging the familiar, i.
