16. Computational Studies of Protein-ligand Systems Using Enhanced Sampling Methods
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on studies of protein-ligand systems using enhanced sampling methods. In chapter I, I give a brief introduction to the time-scale problem and some enhanced sampling methods. In chapter II, the basics of MD simulation are reviewed. LÄS MER
17. 3D structural framework and constraints on the timing of hydrothermal alteration and ore formation at the Falun Zn-Pb-Cu-(Au-Ag) sulphide deposit, Bergslagen, Sweden
Sammanfattning : The Falun pyritic Zn-Pb-Cu-(Au-Ag) sulphide deposit, situated in the Palaeoproterozoic (1.9–1.8 Ga) Bergslagen lithotectonic unit in the south-western part of the Fennoscandian Shield, is one of the major base and minor precious metal sulphide deposits in Sweden. LÄS MER
18. Biophysical characterization of protein-protein interactions involving intrinsically disordered proteins
Sammanfattning : Intrinsically disordered proteins and regions (IDPs/Rs) are proteins that do not form stable and well-defined structures in their free states but rather occupy an ensemble of conformations that change over time while still staying functional. They are prevalent in the eukaryotic proteome and are involved in various vital processes in the cell where they often interact with their binding partners through coupled binding and folding reactions. 19. Protein-protein interactions in model systems : design, control of catalytic activity and biosensor applications
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the design of polypeptides, unordered in the monomeric state but capable of folding into helix-loop-helix motifs and dimerise to form four-helix bundles. The goal of the design was to encode them with the capacity to form dimers highly selectively and the ability to carry out molecular functions in the folded state but not in the unordered state, and thus to establish a molecular link between recognition and function. 20. Computational Studies of Structures and Binding Properties of Protein-Ligand Complexes
Sammanfattning : Proteins are dynamic structural entities that are involved in many biophysical processes through molecular interactions with their ligands. Protein-ligand interactions are of fundamental importance for computer-aided drug discovery. LÄS MER
