21. Design of Cellulose-based Materials by Supramolecular Assemblies
Sammanfattning : Due to climate change and plastic pollution, there is an increasing demand for bio-based materials with similar properties to those of common plastics yet biodegradable. In this respect, cellulose is a strong candidate that is already being refined on a large industrial scale, but the properties differ significantly from those of common plastics in terms of shapeability and water-resilience. 22. Interactions of Anticancer Active Platinum(II) Complexes with DNA
Sammanfattning : The kinetics and mechanism for interactions of the anticancer active platinum(II) complexes cis-[PtCl2(NH3)2)], cis-[PtCl2(NH3)(c-C6H11NH2)], and trans-[PtCl2-(NH3)(quinoline)] with DNA have been studied using a combination of HPLC, circular dichroism (CD), UV/vis spectroscopy, and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Reactions of the monoaqua forms (charge = +1) of these complexes with single-stranded DNA oligonucleotides, typically between 13-17 bases long, were found to depend on i) the composition of the reaction medium, ii) the exact nature and location of the platination target, and iii) on the DNA structure. 23. On the electrochemical performance of energy storage devices composed of cellulose and conducting polymers
Sammanfattning : Applications that require electrical energy storage are becoming increasingly diverse. This development is caused by a number of factors, such as an increasing global energy demand, the advent of electric vehicles, the utilization of intermittent renewable energy sources, and advances in disposable and organic electronics. 24. Surface Charge Dynamics on Polymeric Insulating Materials for High Voltage Applications
Sammanfattning : To meet increasing demands in electric energy, it is essential to enhance production of electricity from renewable energy sources (solar, wind and hydro). Such generation sites, however, are usually separated from consumption sites by long distances. LÄS MER
25. Sources, transport and fate of perfluoroalkyl acids in the atmosphere
Sammanfattning : Perfluoroalkyl acids (PFAAs) are man-made chemicals which have been observed in the global environment, even in locations far away from where they are emitted. These persistent substances are taken up in humans and biota and may have toxic effects. LÄS MER
