  1. 1. Generation of cortical neurons through reprogramming technology

    Författare :Giedre Miskinyte; Lund Neurologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cortex; Reprogramming; human ES cells; transcription factor programming; cortical projection neurons; Human adult cortical slices;

    Sammanfattning : The human cortex is affected by several debilitating acute and chronic neurodegenerative disorders such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and Alzheimer’s disease, which target specific types of cortical neurons. Emerging evidence indicates that stem cells and reprogrammed cells can be used to generate human cortical neurons both for cell replacement by transplantation, and for disease modeling and drug screening. 2. 2. Neurogenesis from Neural Stem Cells, Ependymal Cells and Fibroblasts

    Författare :Karthikeyan Devaraju; Lund Neurologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; adult neurogenesis; stroke; neural stem cells; Lnk; ependymal cells; FoxJ1; cortical reprogramming;

    Sammanfattning : Stroke is a major cause of death and disability around the world. Stroke leads to loss of neurons and also other cells in the brain due to lack of blood supply. Currently no therapies are available to treat stroke-related disability. It has been shown that stroke leads to increased neurogenesis, birth of new neurons, within the brain. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Neural Stem Cells - interaction with the brain and prospects for cell replacement therapy for Stroke

    Författare :Emanuela Monni; Neural stamcellsbiologi och terapi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neural stem cells; human; fetus; cortex; striatum; stroke; transplantation; inflammation; fusion; reprogramming; chimera; heterokaryon;

    Sammanfattning : Stroke is an acute neurological condition and the leading cause of disability in adult humans. Treatments for efficient recovery are not available. The most common form of stroke results from the occlusion of the middle cerebral artery, which causes loss of brain parenchyma and many types of neurons as well as astrocytes and oligodendrocytes. 4. 4. Alterations in proliferation and differentiation of neural stem cells induced by adverse neurodevelopmental factors

    Författare :Raj Kumar Bose; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Predisposition to diseases can be acquired during early stages of development and resolve into an actual disorder later in life. Early life programming defines the association between challenges during pregnancy that result in altered fetal growth, and developmental and adult disorders. LÄS MER
