  1. 1. An Experimental and Theoretical Study of Decentralized Gas Fired Liquid Heating

    Författare :Rolf Christensen; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; liquid heating.; efficiency; environmental impact; emissions; corrugated tube; heat transfer augmentation; heat transfer enhancement; energy conservation; decentralized heating; Natural gas; steam replacement; gas firing; Carbochemistry; petrochemistry; fuels and explosives technology; Petrokemi; bränslen; sprängämnen;

    Sammanfattning : The effects on the energy situation in industry when gas fired liquid heaters replace steam have been determined by energy surveys performed in a brewery and a slaughterhouse, measurements of the performance and emissions from liquid heaters installed in these industries, and theoretical analyses of the potential energy saving. The theoretical study in the first part of the project provides information that allows assessment of the effects on the energy situation, of part or complete conversion to decentralized heating, under the conditions prevailing in the industries concerned. 2. 2. Analysis of Planar and Circular Cylindrical Multilayer Structures with Application to Soft and Hard Surfaces

    Författare :Zvonimir Sipus; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; antennas; periodic surfaces; integral equations; approximate boundary conditions; soft and hard surfaces; Green s functions; corrugated surfaces; moment method; periodic metal strips; multilayer structures; EFIE; microstrip antennas; spectral domain analysis; group representation theory; strip scatterers;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the analysis of planar and circular cylindrical multilayer structures, such as strip-loaded dielectric layers, corrugated surfaces and microstrip antennas. In particular, we study corrugations and strip-loaded grounded dielectric slabs when they are used to realize soft and hard surfaces. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Numerical study of flame dynamics

    Författare :Arkady Petchenko; Vitaly Bychkov; Leonid Kagan; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; combustion; Direct Numerical Simulation DNS ; turbulence; flame-vortex interaction; flame acceleration; flame-acoustic interaction; Physics; Fysik;

    Sammanfattning : Modern industrial society is based on combustion with ever increasing standards on the efficiency of burning. One of the main combustion characteristics is the burning rate, which is influenced by intrinsic flame instabilities, external turbulence and flame interaction with walls of combustor and sound waves. 4. 4. Turbulent burning, flame acceleration, explosion triggering

    Författare :V'yacheslav Akkerman; Vitaly Bychkov; Geoffrey Searby; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Turbulent combustion; flame acceleration; detonation explosion triggering; direct numerical simulations; Physics; Fysik;

    Sammanfattning : The present thesis considers several important problems of combustion theory, which are closely related to each other: turbulent burning, flame interaction with walls in different geometries, flame acceleration and detonation triggering. The theory of turbulent burning is developed within the renormalization approach. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Pulsed holographic interferometry for the study of bending wave propagation in paper and in tubes

    Författare :Kenneth Olofsson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Experimental Mechanics; Experimentell mekanik;

    Sammanfattning : Pulsed Holographic Interferometry (HI), is used to record propagating transient bending waves in plates and shells. These waves are generated mechanically by impact of a small steel sphere or optically by focusing a high energy laser pulse at the surface of the tested object. LÄS MER
