  1. 1. High temperature corrosion in a biomass-fired power boiler : Reducing furnace wall corrosion in a waste wood-fired power plant with advanced steam data

    Författare :Yousef Alipour; Pamela Henderson; Peter Szalalos; Christofer Leygraf; Jan Froitzheim; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; High temperature corrosion; Waterwalls; Power plant corrosion; NOx reducing enviroments; Biomass; Waste wood; Thermodynamic calculation modelling; corrosion-resistance alloy; Furnace wall corrosion; Högtemperaturekorrosion; Eldstadsväggar; kraftverks korrosion; låg Nox mijöer; biomassa; returträ; Termodynamisk modellering; korrosionsbeständighet legering; eldstadskorrosion;

    Sammanfattning : The use of waste (or recycled) wood as a fuel in heat and power stations is becoming more widespread in Sweden (and Europe), because it is CO2 neutral with a lower cost than forest fuel. However, it is a heterogeneous fuel with a high amount of chlorine, alkali and heavy metals which causes more corrosion than fossil fuels or forest fuel. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Furnace Wall Corrosion in a Wood-fired Boiler

    Författare :Yousef Alipour; Pamela Henderson; Mikko Hupa; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; High Temperature Corrosion; Used-wood Fired Boilers; Furnace Wall Corrosion; Cl-induced Corrosion; 16Mo3; Nickel-based Alloys; FeCrAl Alloys; Fuel Additive; Sewage Sludge; >Thermodynamics Modelling; Högtemperaturkorrosion; Returträ Förbränningspannor; Eldstad Korrosion; klor-inducerad korrosion; 16Mo3; Nickelbaslegeringar; FeCrAl-legeringar; Bränsletillsatser; Avloppsslam; Termodynamik Modellering; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : The use of renewable wood-based fuel has been increasing in the last few decades because it is said to be carbon neutral. However, wood-based fuel, and especially used wood (also known as recycled wood or waste wood), is more corrosive than virgin wood (forest fuel), because of higher amounts of chlorine and heavy metals. Sammanfattning : This thesis describes technical and scientific aspects of new types of composite films/coatings for corrosion protection of carbon steel, composite films with nanometer thickness consisting of mussel adhesive protein (Mefp‐1) and ceria nanoparticles, and polymeric composite coatings with micrometre thickness consisting of conducting polymer and ceria nanoparticles in a UV‐curing polyester acrylate (PEA) resin.The influence of microstructure on corrosion behaviour was studied for a Fe‐Cr‐V‐N alloy containing micro‐sized nitrides with different chemical composition spread in martensitic alloy matrix. 4. 4. Mechanistic Approach to Corrosion of Zirconium by Water - A First Principle Study

    Författare :Mikaela Lindgren; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; zirconium; hydrogen pick-up; corrosion; oxygen vacancy; DFT;

    Sammanfattning : Zirconium and zirconium oxides are of major technological importance. There are broad applications for these materials, from fuel cell electrolyte to semiconductors and in hip-implants. In nuclear power plants, zirconium alloys are widely used as cladding material to contain the fission fuel in the reactor cores. LÄS MER

  5. 5. The effect of microstructure and temperature on the atmospheric corrosion of Mg-Al alloys

    Författare :Mohsen Esmaily; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Atmospheric corrosion; microstructure; temperature; corrosion product; magnesium;

    Sammanfattning : The NaCl-induced atmospheric corrosion behavior of the Mg-Al alloy AM50 produced by rheo-casting (RC) and high pressure die casting (HPDC) techniques was studied in the laboratory. The exposures were performed at 95% RH in the absence and presence of 400 ppm CO2 at 22, 4 and -4ºC. In parallel, 99.97%Mg was investigated as reference. LÄS MER
