  1. 21. Prevalence and Prognostic Impact of Periodontal Disease and Conventional Risk Factors in Patients with Stable Coronary Heart Disease

    Författare :Ola Vedin; Claes Held; Emil Hagström; Bertil Lindahl; Mai-Lis Hellenius; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Coronary heart disease; Secondary prevention; Prevention; Periodontal Disease; Tooth loss; Risk prediction; Risk factors; Myocardial infarction; Kardiologi; Cardiology;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of this thesis was to assess the prevalence and management of established cardiovascular (CV) risk factors and the prevalence and influence of self-reported markers (number of teeth and frequency of gum bleeding) of periodontal disease (PD), a less explored CV risk factor, in patients with stable chronic coronary heart disease (CHD).We studied patients from the global STabilization of Atherosclerotic plaque By Initiation of darapLadIb TherapY (STABILITY) trial (n=15,828), in which patients with stable chronic CHD were randomized to either darapladib or placebo.     Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; diabetes; heart; coronary surgery; cardiac surgery; myocardial metabolism; free fatty; Thoracic surgery; Thoraxkirurgi;

  3. 23. Impact of Risk Factors and Treatment in Coronary Heart Disease

    Författare :Lena Björck; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :coronary disease; myocardinal infarction; risk factors; smoking; lipid levels;

    Sammanfattning : Aims: The aim of the present study was to explore how risk factors and medication influence clinical presentation and mortality in coronary heart disease (CHD) and to explain how much of the decrease in CHD mortality in Sweden that could be attributed to medical and surgical treatments, and how much to changes in cardiovascular risk factors. Subjects and methods: We included 781 consecutive patients with a first acute myocardial infarction (AMI) during the period 1994 to 2002, to investigate trends in the use of lipid-lowering treatment, and changes in serum lipids. 4. 24. Novel and Traditional Risk Factors for Coronary Artery Disease : Role of Coronary Artery Calcium, Lipidomics, Psychosocial Factors and Diet

    Författare :Demir Djekic; Ole Fröbert; Annika Rosengren; Tuulia Hyötyläinen; Anna M. Nordenskjöld; Magnus Bäck; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Novel risk factors; coronary artery calcium; lipidomics; lipidome; psychosocial factors; vegetarian diet; gut microbiota; metabolome;

    Sammanfattning : Background: The aim of the research reported in this thesis was to determine the association of novel and traditional risk factors with coronary artery calcium (CAC), a marker of subclinical coronary artery disease (CAD) in healthy individuals. In addition, we investigated the effects of a vegetarian, compared to a meat diet, on novel and traditional risk factors in patients with diagnosed CAD. LÄS MER

  5. 25. From Stenting to Preventing : Invasive and Long-term Treatment for Coronary Artery Disease in Sweden
