  1. 16. Cardiac Troponins in Patients with Suspected or Confirmed Acute Coronary Syndrome : New Applications for Biomarkers in Coronary Artery Disease

    Författare :Kai Eggers; Bertil Lindahl; Stefan James; Paul Collinson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Internal medicine; Ischemic heart disease; Acute myocardial infarction; Troponin; Natriuretic peptide; CRP; Cystatin C; Artificial neural network; Point of care measurements; Risk prediction; Invärtesmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : The cardiac troponins are the biochemical markers of choice for the diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and risk prediction in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). In this thesis, the role of early serial cardiac troponin I (cTnI) testing was assessed in fairly unselected patient populations admitted because of chest pain and participating in the FAST II-study (n=197) and the FASTER I-study (n=380). 2. 17. Oral health and cardiovascular disease

    Författare :Anders Holmlund; Lars Lind; Ulf. H Lerner; Anders Gustafsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Medicine; Oral health; periodontal disease; number of teeth; cardiovascular disease; mortality; Medicin;

    Sammanfattning : In the past two decades studies have indicated that oral health might be associated with the prevalence for cardiovascular disease (CVD), although the biological link still remains unknown. Bacteria and inflammatory mediators causing periodontal disease have also been suggested to influence the progression of atherosclerosis. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Determinants of social inequalities in cardiovascular disease among Iranian patients

    Författare :Seyed Abbasi; Gloria Macassa; Joaquim Soares; Örjan Sundin; Ramune Kalediene; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Iran; Social inequalities; Cardiovascular disease; Coronary artery disease; Acute coronary syndrome; Socioeconomic status; In-hospital mortality; Urban rural residence;

    Sammanfattning : Background and objectives: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the single largest cause of mortality in the world. Similar to other health issues, CVD is generally affected either by individual risk factors, which may influence the risk for developing an illness or its complications, or by social indicators (social determinants of health). 4. 19. Computer-Assisted  Coronary  CT  Angiography  Analysis : From  Software  Development  to  Clinical  Application

    Författare :Chunliang Wang; Örjan Smedby; Anders Persson; Hans Frimmel; Evert-jan Vonken; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Vessel segmentation; coronary CTA; fuzzy connectedness; level set; coronary artery disease; Image analysis; Bildanalys; Radiological research; Radiologisk forskning;

    Sammanfattning : Advances in coronary Computed Tomography Angiography (CTA) have resulted in a boost in the use of this new technique in recent years, creating a challenge for radiologists due to the increasing number of exams and the large amount of data for each patient. The main goal of this study was to develop a computer tool to facilitate coronary CTA analysis by combining knowledge of medicine and image processing, and to evaluate the performance in clinical settings. 5. 20. Platelet Inhibition in Coronary Artery Disease – Mechanisms and Clinical Importance : Studies with Focus on P2Y12 Inhibition

    Författare :Christoph Varenhorst; Stefan James; Agneta Siegbahn; Lars Wallentin; Steen Dalby Kristensen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; coronary artery disease; myocardial infarction; acute coronary syndromes; stent thrombosis; P2Y12 inhibitors; thienopyridines; clopidogrel poor response; clopidogrel; prasugrel; Cardiology; Kardiologi; Kardiologi; Cardiology;

    Sammanfattning : Despite the currently recommended dual antiplatelet treatment (DAT) with aspirin and P2Y12 inhibition in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) there is a risk of adverse clinical outcome. Pharmacodynamic (PD) poor response to clopidogrel occurs in ~ 30% of clopidogrel-treated patients and is associated with an increased risk of recurrent thrombotic events. LÄS MER
