16. Modelling and simulation of pressurised black liquor gasification at high temperature
Sammanfattning : Black liquor (BL), a by-product of the chemical pulping process, is an important liquid fuel in the pulp and paper industry. It contains almost all of the inorganic cooking chemicals along with the lignin and other organic matter separated from the wood during pulping in the digester. LÄS MER
17. The initial phase of sodium sulfite pulping of softwood : A comparison of different pulping options
Sammanfattning : Single stage and two-stage sodium sulfite cooking were carried out on either spruce, pine or pure pine heartwood chips to investigate the influence of several process parameters on the initial phase of such a cook down to about 60 % pulp yield. The cooking experiments were carried out in the laboratory with either a lab-prepared or a mill-prepared cooking acid and the temperature and time were varied. LÄS MER
18. The initial phase of the sodium bisulfite pulping of softwood dissolving pulp
Sammanfattning : The sulfite pulping process is today practised in only a small number of pulp mills around the globe and the number of sulfite mills that use sodium as the base (cation) is less than five. However, due to the increasing interest in the wood based biorefinery concept, the benefits of sulfite pulping and especially the sodium based variety, has recently gained a lot of interest. LÄS MER
19. Pretreatment and Enzymatic Treatment of Spruce : A functional designed wood components separation for a future biorefinery
Sammanfattning : The three main components of wood, namely, cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin, can be used in various areas. However, since lignin covalently crosslinks with wood polysaccharides creating networks that is an obstacle for extraction, direct extraction of different wood components in high yield is not an easy matter. 20. Characterization of Spruce Xylan and Its Potential for Strength Improvement
Sammanfattning : Xylan dissolved during kraft cooking and later redeposited on fibre surfaces has been shown to give higher pulp yield and better strength properties. This is economically interesting from an industrial point of view. LÄS MER
