  1. 16. A room designed for caring : Experiences from an evidence-based designed intensive care environment

    Författare :Fredrika Sundberg; Maria Henricson; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; intensive care units; critical care; caring; hospital design and construction; evidence-based facility design; built environment; health facility environment; patient rooms; critical illness; patients; family; nurses; Människan i vården; The Human Perspective in Care;

    Sammanfattning : Aim: The overall aim of this doctoral thesis was to examine and evaluate if and how an intensive care unit (ICU) room, which had been designed using the principles of evidence-based design (EBD), impacted the safety, wellbeing and caring for patients, their family members and staff.Methods: Paper I explored the nursing staff experiences of working in an EBD intensive care patient room through 13 interviews that were analysed by qualitative content analysis. 2. 17. Towards sustainable energy consumption : Electricity demand flexibility and household fuel choice

    Författare :Aemiro Melkamu Daniel; Lars Persson; Runar Brännlund; Rauli Svento; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Choice experiment; demand flexibility; electricity contract; fuel choice; fuel stacking; household heterogeneity; load control; pro-environmental framing; willingness-to-accept;

    Sammanfattning : Paper [I] investigates household heterogeneity in valuing electricity contract attributes that include various load controls and information sharing to induce demand flexibility. Using a stated preference choice experiment conducted with Swedish households, this paper shows that, although a large proportion of households ask for substantial compensation, some households are willing to share their electricity consumption information and require relatively lower compensation to allow load controls. Sammanfattning : The history of surgery is nearly as old as the human race. Control of wound infection has always been an essential part of any surgical procedure, and is still an important challenge in hospital operating rooms today. For patients undergoing surgery there is always a risk that they will develop some kind of postoperative complication. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Management Accounting Above and Under Ground : Field Studies of Operations Managers’ Everyday Work

    Författare :Amanda Curry; Anders Hersinger; Kent Nilsson; Hans Englund; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Accounting and Control; Redovisning och styrning;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns operations managers who are required to adhere to both management accounting and operational concerns in their everyday operational work. The question addressed in this thesis is how management accounting is implicated in the everyday operational work of operations managers and their team members in production environments. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : The electric power systems are currently being transformed through the integration of intermittent renewable energy resources and new types of electric loads. These developments run the risk of increasing mismatches between electricity supply and demand, and may cause non-favorable utilization rates of some power system components. LÄS MER
