  1. 1. Predicting Prognosis and Tamoxifen Response in Breast Cancer. With a special focus on contralateral breast cancer

    Författare :Sara Alkner; Bröstcancer-genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Breast cancer; prognosis; treatment prediction; endocrine treatment; tamoxifen; coactivator; AIB1; PAX2; SRC; contralateral breast cancer; premenopausal; randomized trial; mode of detection; mammography.;

    Sammanfattning : One of the great challenges in breast cancer treatment today is to customize adjuvant treatment to each patient’s individual needs. To do this it is necessary to learn more about the prognostic and treatment predictive factors that determine the risk of relapse and response to a certain mode of treatment. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Rotator Cuff Tears : Short- and long-term aspects on treatment outcome

    Författare :Mats Ranebo; Lars Adolfsson; Hanna Björnsson; Rolf Norlin; Ian Trail; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Rotator cuff tear is a common disorder and there is a lack of knowledge of appropriate treatment and consequences of different treatment modalities. The overall aim of this thesis was to examine short- and long-term results of rotator cuff tear treatment. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Acute Achilles Tendon Rupture. Outcome, Prediction and Optimized treatment

    Författare :Niklas Olsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Achilles tendon rupture; Outcome; Functional evaluation; ATRS;

    Sammanfattning : The optimal treatment for Achilles tendon rupture is the subject of debate and could be either surgical or non-surgical with various alternatives in terms of immobilization and rehabilitation. The purpose of this thesis was to evaluate the short- and long-term outcome of a new surgical treatment protocol, including early tendon loading and ROM training, in comparison with non-surgical treatment using a functional brace. 4. 4. 201Thallium SPECT; accuracy in astrocytoma diagnosis and treatment evaluation

    Författare :Kristina Källén; Helsingborg Kliniska Vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The aims of the studies included in this thesis were:• to investigate the reliability of 201thallium single photon emission computed tomography (201Tl SPECT) for preoperative diagnosis and histological staging of malignant astrocytomas in comparison with CT; • to develop a method for quantification of cerebral thallium uptake, and to evaluate the quantitative measurement in comparison with CT, for astrocytoma treatment follow-up purposes; • to compare quantitative 201Tl SPECT and proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H-MRS) with conventional MR imaging for astrocytoma monitoring, and to evaluate associations between change of morphological tumour characteristics during treatment and changes of cerebral thallium uptake and metabolic ratios. Results and conclusions:• High 201Tl-index, calculated as a ratio comparing tumour uptake to uptake in the contralateral hemisphere, is an indicator of highly malignant astrocytoma. LÄS MER

  5. 5. The Value of Preoperative MRI in Breast Cancer Treatment

    Författare :Virginia Gonzalez; Staffan Eriksson; Sophia Zackrissson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :preoperative breast MRI; breast cancer; breast-conserving surgery; Surgery; Kirurgi; Oncology; Onkologi; Radiology; Radiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) remains controversial as an image adjunct in preoperative settings in terms of short-term benefits and there are no survival data from randomized studies. This prospective, randomized, multicentre study included 440 patients (age ≤ 56 y) with breast cancer from three large-volume Swedish breast clinics. LÄS MER
