21. Physical Activity and Alzheimer's Disease : Measurements, Observations and Subjective Experiences
Sammanfattning : Gait disturbances such as slow walking speed and step-to-step variability have been reported among people with mild Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and as risk factors for functional decline, dependency, and falls. Additionally, AD-related emotional reactions and decreased initiative can lead to physical inactivity. LÄS MER
22. Nonparametric Functional Estimation under Order Restrictions
Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of three papers (Papers A-C) on problems in nonparametric functional estimation, in particular density and regression function estimation and deconvolution, under order assumptions. Pointwise limit distribution results are stated for the obtained estimators, which include isotonic regression estimates, nonparametric maximum likelihood estimates of monotone densities, estimates of convex regression and density functions and deconvolution estimates. 23. Interference Rejection and Channel Detection in Mobile Communication
Sammanfattning : This thesis is devoted to statistical problems in mobile communication, in particular disturbance rejection and change detection are studied. Co-channel interference is a significant problem for systems based on TDMA, e.g. EDGE. LÄS MER
24. On Confidence Intervals and Two-Sided Hypothesis Testing
Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of a summary and six papers, dealing with confidence intervals and two-sided tests of point-null hypotheses. In Paper I, we study Bayesian point-null hypothesis tests based on credible sets. A decision-theoretic justification for tests based on central credible intervals is presented. LÄS MER
25. Essays on Epistemology and Evolutionary Game Theory
Sammanfattning : This thesis has two parts, one consisting of three independent papers in epistemology (Chapters 1-3) and another one consisting of a single paper in evolutionary game theory (Chapter 4): (1) “Knowing who speaks when: A note on communication, common knowledge and consensus” (together with Mark Voorneveld) We study a model of pairwise communication in a finite population of Bayesian agents. We show that, if the individuals update only according to the signal they actually hear, and they do not take into account all the hypothetical signals they could have received, a consensus is not necessarily reached.
