  1. 1. Valuing environmental benefits using the contingent valuation method : an econometric analysis

    Författare :Bengt Kriström; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; environmental benefits; contingent valuation; econometrics; discrete response data; continuous and discrete valuation questions; cost-benefit analysis;

    Sammanfattning : The purpose of this study is to investigate methods for assessing the value people place on preserving our natural environments and resources. It focuses on the contingent valuation method, which is a method for directly asking people about their preferences. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Analytical Approximation of Contingent Claims

    Författare :Karl Larsson; Claus Munk; Nationalekonomiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Option pricing; approximation; stochastic volatility; implied volatility; perturbation; Malliavin calculus; commodities; swaption; swap; HJM model;

    Sammanfattning : This PhD thesis consists of three separate papers. The common theme is methods to calculate analytical approximations for prices of different contingent claims under various model assumptions. The first two papers deals with approximations of standard European options in stochastic volatility models. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The Demand for Health and the Contingent Valuation Method

    Författare :Bengt Liljas; Lunds universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; econometrics; Economics; Willingness to Pay; Contingent Valuation; Cost-Benefit Analysis; Economic Evaluation; Risk perception; Insurance; Grossman model; Uncertainty; Demand for Health; Health Economics; economic theory; economic systems; economic policy; Nationalekonomi; ekonometri; ekonomisk teori; ekonomiska system; ekonomisk politik;

    Sammanfattning : The theoretical part develops Michael Grossman’s dynamic demand-for-health model by (a) letting the depreciation rate depend upon the level of health, (b) allowing a continuous set of health states, (c) introducing uncertainty (by letting health be a stochastic variable), (d) introducing social and private insurance and (e) releasing the assumption of an isoperimetric budget constraint. Beside the theoretical results, there are also results with important policy implications. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to interrogate a particular understanding of gender and technology as co-constructed from the standpoint of sexual difference theory by showing what this conceptualization of gender and technology excludes. It is also an attempt to enable an understanding of what is excluded by elaborating upon the conditions for thinking technology, gender and sexual difference differently. LÄS MER

  5. 5. On Neuromagnetic Assessment of the Contingent Negative Variation

    Författare :Leif Hultin; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; contingent negative variation; MEG; glial buffering current; iso-field maps; CNV; magnetoencephalography;

    Sammanfattning : The contingent negative variation, CNV, is a cognitive process related to anticipation and motor preparation. In the present work the CNV was studied by the use of magnetoencephalography, MEG. LÄS MER
