  1. 1. Initiation of rolling contact fatigue from asperities in elastohydrodynamic lubricated contacts

    Författare :Carl-Magnus Everitt; Bo Alfredsson; Stefan Björklund; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Spalling; Pitting; Slip; Elastohydrodynamic; Thermal elastohydrodynamic; Fatigue; Contact mechanics.; Pitting; Glidning; Elastohydrodynamik; Termisk elastohydrodynamik; Utmattning; Kontaktmekanik.; Hållfasthetslära; Solid Mechanics;

    Sammanfattning : Rolling contacts are utilized in many technical applications, both in bearings and in the contact between gear teeth. These components are often highly loaded, which makes them susceptible to suffer from rolling contact fatigue. This work focuses on the rolling contact fatigue mechanism of pitting. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Experiments and simulations on the mechanics of ice and snow

    Författare :Hassan Bahaloohoreh; Johan Casselgren; Simon Larsson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Experiments; Sintering force; Capillar bridge; liquid film; Discrete Element Method; Particles; Experimentell mekanik; Experimental Mechanics;

    Sammanfattning : In this study, experiments and simulations were conducted to investigate ice and snow. The ice sintering force as a function of temperature, pressing force (contact load), contact duration, and particle size during the primary stage of sintering was formulated using experimental methods along with an approximate, semi-analytic, close-form solution. 3. 3. Dynamics of Rotors Influenced by Rubbing Contacts

    Författare :John L. Isaksson; Göran Gerbert; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns theoretical studies of the dynamical behaviour of a rotor interacting with its non-rotating surroundings. Rotor-stator rubs make the rotor system strongly non-linear, which leads to phenomena that are not seen for ordinary rotors. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Influence of surface roughness on rolling contact fatigue considering thermal elastohydrodynamic lubrication effects : Due to Corona it is not possible to attend this defense in person, instead attend via this link: https://play.kth.se/media/0_omfsppe6

    Författare :Carl-Magnus Everitt; Bo Alfredsson; Andreas Almqvist; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Contact mechanics; Rolling contact fatigue; Pitting; Spalling; Slip; Thermal elastohydrodynamic.; Kontaktmekanik; Rullande kontaktutmattning; Pitting; Glidning; Termisk elastohydrodynamik.; Hållfasthetslära; Solid Mechanics;

    Sammanfattning : Rolling contacts are utilized in many technical applications, both in bearings and in the contacts between gear teeth. These components are subjected to high loads in many of their applications. The high loads causes very high contact pressures which may cause rolling contact fatigue, often denoted as pitting or spalling. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Evaluation of strong nonlinearities in hydropower systems

    Författare :Florian Thiery; Ilmar Santos; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hållfasthetslära; Solid Mechanics;

    Sammanfattning : In hydropower systems, it is essential to avoid catastrophic failures that leads to human and economic losses. Unfortunately, the rotor can behave abnormally since several nonlinear effects occur during start-up, shut downs or when running at nominal speed. LÄS MER
