21. Homogenization theory with applications in tribology
Sammanfattning : Homogenization is a mathematical theory for studying differential equations with rapidly oscillating coefficents. Many important problems in physics with one or several microscopic length scales give rise to this kind of equations. Hence there is a need for methods that enable an efficient treatment of such problems. LÄS MER
22. GENOME2QUNOME : Interfacing Molecules with Nanomaterials
Sammanfattning : The advent of technological furtherance in the biomedical sector and the renaissance of interdisciplinary science enable us to comprehend human lifestyle, and diseases at molecular and nanoscale levels. Lacking a shared theoretical foundation and terminological lexicon between various scientific domains might impede efforts to incorporate biological principles into nanoscience. LÄS MER
23. Text och tolkning i svenska författarbiografier : Elin Wägners Selma Lagerlöf, Elisabeth Tykessons Atterbom och Fredrik Bööks Verner von Heidenstam
Sammanfattning : The aim of the present thesis is twofold: to examine literary biography as literary text and, on the basis of my findings, to adopt a reasonable perspective on the theoretical debate about the fictionality of such biographies. In my introduction I trace the theoretical developments underlying this metaperspective and supply with an historical survey of literary biography as practised in Sweden. LÄS MER
24. Stochastic epidemics on random networks and competition in growth
Sammanfattning : The COVID-19 pandemic has dramatically demonstrated the importance of epidemic models in understanding and predicting disease spread and in assessing the effectiveness of interventions. The overarching topic of this thesis is stochastic epidemic modelling, with the main focus on the role of the underlying social structure in infectious disease spread. LÄS MER
25. Stochastic Epidemic Models : Different Aspects of Heterogeneity
Sammanfattning : This thesis is concerned with the study of stochastic epidemic models for infectious diseases in heterogeneous populations. All diseases treated are of SIR type, i.e. individuals are either Susceptible, Infectious or Recovered (and immune). LÄS MER
