  1. 1. On interface modeling  with emphasis on friction

    Författare :Anders Söderberg; Sören Andersson; Lars-Erik Stacke; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; interface model; contact; friction; simulation; system behaviour; surface roughness; elastic foundation; Other engineering mechanics; Övrig teknisk mekanik;

    Sammanfattning : The general trend toward increased use of computer models and simulations during product development has led to a need for accurate and reliable product models. The function of many products relies on contact interfaces between interacting components. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Finite Element Modeling of Contact Problems

    Författare :Asim Rashid; Peter Hansbo; Niclas Strömberg; Anders Klarbring; Anders Eriksson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : Contact is the principal way load is transferred to a body. The study of stresses and deformations arising due to contact interaction of solid bodies is thus of paramount importance in many engineering applications. In this work, problems involving contact interactions are investigated using finite element modeling. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Computer Aided Angioplasty : Patient-specific arterial modeling and smooth 3D contact analysis of the stent-balloon-artery interaction

    Författare :Dimitrios Kiousis; Gerhard Holzapfel; Kenneth Runesson; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Contact; continuous surfaces; B-splines; balloon angioplasty; stenting; FEM; Bioengineering; Bioteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Paper A: In this paper, the development and implementation of a contact algorithm based on C2-continuous surface representations is discussed. In 3D contact simulations involving models with arbitrarily curved surfaces (as in the case of vessel walls), the discretization of the contact surfaces by means of facet-based techniques could lead to numerical instabilities and finally loss of quadratic convergence. 4. 4. Heat transfer phenomena and mould flux lubrication in continuous casting of steel

    Författare :Akira Yamauchi; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Heat Transfer; Thermal Conductivity; Contact Resistance; Mould Flux; Solidification; Lubrication; Infiltration; Friction; Shear Stress; Modeling; Crystallization; Rupture Strength; Solidus; High-Speed Casting; Viscosity; Elasticity; Uniform Cooling;

    Sammanfattning : Overall thermal resistance of the mould flux was measured tomake clear the influence of the mould flux properties on theheat transfer behavior in continuous casting, especiallythermal conductivity and the formation of air gaps in thisstudy. From the investigation of the effect of the mouldsurface temperature and physical properties of the mould fluxon heat transfer through the flux film, following knowledge hasbeen obtained. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Towards accurate modeling of moving contact lines

    Författare :Hanna Holmgren; Gunilla Kreiss; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Beräkningsvetenskap med inriktning mot numerisk analys; Scientific Computing with specialization in Numerical Analysis;

    Sammanfattning : The present thesis treats the numerical simulation of immiscible incompressible two-phase flows with moving contact lines. The conventional Navier–Stokes equations combined with a no-slip boundary condition leads to a non-integrable stress singularity at the contact line. LÄS MER
