  1. 1. Integrated structural and construction engineering – A study of project team performance in Swedish bridge design

    Författare :Daniel P T Ekström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; constructability; project competence; integrated project teams; conceptual design; sustainability; interprofessional dialogue; project culture; collaboration in construction; bridges; integration in construction; concrete structures; integrated design; pre-construction indicators; performance; structural design; inter-disciplinary; buildability;

    Sammanfattning : The Swedish Transport Administration (STA) ambitiously strives to increase the level of productivity and innovation within its operations while meeting and surpassing national sustainability objectives. In this effort, the STA has concluded that climate gas emissions from construction, operation, and maintenance of the infrastructure must be reduced for Sweden to maintain its position as a pioneer and to reach both national and global climate goals. 2. 2. Sustainability-, Buildability- and Performance-driven Structural Design

    Författare :Alexandre Mathern; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; sustainability; structural engineering; civil engineering; design method; finite element analysis; concrete structures; material developments; buildability; performance; structural developments; requirements; construction technology; integrated design; bridges; constructability;

    Sammanfattning : The construction, maintenance and operation of infrastructure networks represent substantial impacts, both positive and negative, in all three dimensions of sustainability: economic, social and environmental. The greatest possibility to reduce the negative impacts and increase the positive ones is at the early design stage of construction projects. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Slab Frame Bridges : Structural Optimization Considering Investment Cost and Environmental Impacts

    Författare :Majid Solat Yavari; Costin Pacoste-Calmanovici; Raid Karoumi; Mario Plos; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Slab frame bridge; Structural design; Cost optimization; Optimization of environmental impact; Life cycle assessment; Genetic algorithm; Pattern search method; Byggvetenskap; Civil and Architectural Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : This research encompasses the automated design and structural optimization of reinforced concrete slab frame bridges, considering investment costs and environmental impacts. The most important feature of this work is that it focusses on realistic and complete models of slab frame bridges rather than on optimization of only individual members or sections of a bridge. 4. 4. Flexible culverts in sloping terrain : Research advances and application

    Författare :Amer Wadi; Raid Karoumi; Lars Pettersson; Jan Vaslestad; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Flexible culvert; Soil‒steel composite bridge; Sloping terrain; Swedish design method; Finite element model; Slope stability; Avalanche load; Snowshed; Byggvetenskap; Civil and Architectural Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Although the construction of flexible culverts involves simplicity in comparison to similar concrete structures, the complexity of the beneficial interaction between soil and steel materials requires good understanding for their composite action and performance. Current design methods have certain validity limitations with regard to applicable slopes above the structures. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Optimal design solutions of concrete bridges considering environmental impact and investment cost

    Författare :Elisa Khouri Chalouhi; Raid Karoumi; Mario Plos; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Structural optimization; Automated design; Beam bridges; Environmental impact; Investment cost; Byggvetenskap; Civil and Architectural Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : The most used design approach for civil engineering structures is a trial and error procedure; the designer chooses an initial configuration, tests it and changes it until all safety requirements are met with good material utilization. Such a procedure is time consuming and eventually leads to a feasible solution, while several better ones could be found. LÄS MER
