1. Pastoralists, Mobility and Conservation : Shifting rules of access and control of grazing resources in Kenya's northern drylands
Sammanfattning : Pastoral mobility is seen as the most effective strategy to make use of constantly shifting resources. In northern Kenya, mobile pastoralism as a highly-valued strategy to manage grazing areas and exploit resource variability is becoming more complex. LÄS MER
2. Ecology and conservation of the moth Dysauxes ancilla
Sammanfattning : The ecology of the moth Dysauxes ancilla was studied in the only Swedish breeding area at Beijershamn, situated on the Baltic island of Öland. The population is a northern outpost, separated from the species´ continous distribution area in middle- and southeast Europe. LÄS MER
3. Conservation, personality and ecology of the European mink (Mustela lutreola)
Sammanfattning : Loss of biodiversity is a growing problem and hence conservation of species is becoming increasingly important. In this dissertation conservation issues related to the critically endangered European mink (Mustela lutreola) are examined in situ (in the wild) and ex situ (in captivity) on both an individual and community level. 4. Fish in the coastal seascape : exploring ecological processes and connectivity for conservation of temperate fish communities
Sammanfattning : The need to understand patterns and processes in the marine environment has never been so profound as today, particularly as anthropogenic pressures upon coastal regions are drastically affecting habitats and species across a vast range. One approach to further understand these patterns and processes is through the use of seascape ecology methods. LÄS MER
5. To survive and reproduce in a cyclic environment – demography and conservation of the Arctic fox in Scandinavia
Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns the conservation and life history of the Arctic fox (Vulpes lagopus) in Scandinavia. The Arctic fox was historically a widely distributed species in the Scandinavian mountain tundra with a population size of approximately 10 000 individuals during years with high resource availability, i.e. rodent peaks.
