21. Biological diversity values in semi-natural grasslands : indicators, landscape context and restoration
Sammanfattning : Semi-natural grasslands, which are a declining and fragmented habitat in Europe, contain a high biodiversity, and are therefore of interest to conservation. This thesis examines how plant diversity is influenced by the landscape context, and how plant and fungal diversity can be targeted by practical conservation using indicator species and congruence between species groups. 22. Applications of ocean transport modelling
Sammanfattning : The advective motion of seawater governs the transport of almost everything, animate or inanimate, present in the ocean and those lacking the ability to outswim the currents have to follow the flow. This makes modelling of advective ocean transports a powerful tool in various fields of science where a displacement of something over time is studied. LÄS MER
23. Es-Clefts und det-Clefts : Zur Syntax, Semantik und Informationsstruktur von Spaltsätzen im Deutschen und Schwedischen
Sammanfattning : This study investigates the syntax, semantics and information structure of it-cleft constructions in German and Swedish. The syntactic analysis is presented within a standard framework of generative theory. In defining genuine cleft constructions, both the syntactic and the semantic structures of clefts are taken into consideration. LÄS MER
24. Temporal dynamics of brain plasticity : characterizing brain structural changes during skill acquisition
Sammanfattning : Traditionally, structural plasticity in the human brain has been considered to follow a linear or asymptotic increase over the course of training. However, recent studies using structural MRI revealed transient increases in grey matter volume (GMV) with learning. LÄS MER
25. Quantitative 3D reconstruction of porous polymers using FIB-SEM tomography -correlating materials structures to properties of coatings for controlled drug release
Sammanfattning : Porous networks are found in a wide range of different advanced and technologically important materials and influence the materials properties. The networks are active components in for example batteries, food and pharmaceuticals. The interconnectivity of a network strongly influences the transport properties. LÄS MER
