  1. 11. Ligand-induced structural changes in HIV-1 envelope glycoprotein

    Författare :Selina Poon; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :HIV-1;

    Sammanfattning : The first step in HIV-1 entry is the interaction between viral envelope glycoprotein gp120 and CD4 receptor on permissive host cells. The interaction initiates a series of sequential conformational rearrangements that exposes epitopes involved in interaction with co-receptors. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Knowledge of dynamics in protein is very important in the description of protein function and molecular recognition. The thesis investigates protein dynamics on time-scales from milli- to sub-nanosecond, with focus on the latter, using NMR spin relaxation experiments on two proteins, the 138-residue carbohydrate recognition domain of galectin-3 (Gal3C) and the 56-residue B1 domain of bacterial protein G (PGB1). 3. 13. Probing the Effects of Conformation on the Photophysics of Conjugated Porphyrin Oligomers

    Författare :Melina Gilbert Gatty; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; electron transfer; conformational analysis; conjugated porphyrin oligomers;

    Sammanfattning : Controlling the conformational heterogeneity of molecular systems is fundamental to envisage future applications of these systems, such as in solar cells or molecular devices to name a few. The work presented in this Thesis investigates the effects of conformational flexibility on the photophysical properties of a series of conjugated porphyrin oligomers Pn (n = 1-4, 6, 8). LÄS MER

  4. 14. Hydrophobic interactions of serpins

    Författare :Sabina Janciauskiene; Enheten för kroniska inflammatoriska och degenerativa sjukdomar; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Proteiner; enzymology; polymerization.; Proteins; conformational polymorphism; hydrophobic interaction; amyloid fibrils; Alzheimer`s peptide Ab; alpha-1-antichymotrypsin; C-terminal peptide; lithocholic acid; cholesterol; Key words: alpha-1-antitrypsin; bile acids; enzymologi;

    Sammanfattning : The proteins of the serpin family are primarily but not exclusively proteinase inhibitors, which share a common, similar structure. It is known that this structure undergoes major conformational changes upon cleavage in the serpin reactive site loop, and that these changes include rearrangements within the hydrophobic core of the molecule. 5. 15. Exploring Molecular Interactions : Synthesis and Studies of Clip-Shaped Molecular Hosts

    Författare :Anjaneya Prasad Polavarapu; Helena Grennberg; Adolf Gogoll; Jerker Mårtensson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Organic chemistry; Glycoluril clips; host-guest systems; supramolecular chemistry; complexation induced shifts; conformational restriction; NMR spectroscopy; fullerene binding; Organisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Molecular recognition via noncovalent interactions plays a key role in many biological processes such as antigen-antibody interactions, protein folding, the bonding and catalytic transformation of substrates by enzymes, etc. Amongst these noncovalent interactions, electrostatic interactions, hydrogen bonding, π-π interactions, and metal-to-ligand bonding are the most prominent.
