  1. 1. Striking a balance : Managing collaborative multitasking in computer-supported cooperation

    Författare :Rikard Harr; Victor Kaptelinin; Mikael Wiberg; Oskar Juhlin; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Computer-supported Cooperative Work; articulation work; individual task execution; balance; interruptions; availability; awareness; interaction; information technology; multitasking; task switching; Informatics; computer and systems science; Informatik; data- och systemvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is a collection of six papers and a cover paper reporting an exploration of how to strike a balance between individual task execution and work articulation in Computer-supported Cooperative Work (CSCW). The interest in this theme is motivated by an increased reliance of IT-supported cooperative work arrangements in modern organizations, the fragmented layout of work for multitasking individuals and reports on various forms of overload, increased level of stress and anxiety experienced by workers active in these organizations. 2. 2. Collaborative Visualization : Designing and evaluating systems for co-located work

    Författare :Lars Winkler Pettersson; Stefan Seipel; Anders Jansson; Oliver Bimber; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Visualization; Human-Computer Interaction; Collaboration; Co-located Visualization; Computer Supported Cooperative Work;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates new ways of using information visualization to support collaboration in co-located work. To study this phenomenon, Multiple Viewer Display Environments (MVDEs) with independent views have been applied to present information such that all viewers at the same time and in the same display can see correct views of 3D models, see correctly oriented text and see different parts and aspects of information in each view. Sammanfattning : The aim of this study is to examine the pedagogical processes that evolve in an "open" design for online learning realized in relation to a specific setting. The study describes and analyzes pedagogical activities in a distance education course in higher education that uses an asynchronous conference system for communication and interaction. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Operatörens blick : om inplacering av IT-stöd i erfarenhetsöverföring inom en lokal praxis

    Författare :Jörn Messeter; Institutionen för informatik; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; systems theory; Informatics; skill development; tacit knowing; work language; Computer supported learning; work knowledge; Informatik; systemteori;

    Sammanfattning : Studies in process control automation show that manual control skills are important in handling situations where the automatic control system fails. The fact that these skills are particularly difficult to maintain and develop in automated production environments is usually described as one of the ironies of automation. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : The last couple of years have marked the entire field of information technology with the introduction of a new global resource, called data. Certainly, one can argue that large amounts of information and highly interconnected and complex datasets were available since the dawn of the computer and even centuries before. LÄS MER
