  1. 16. Development of Automated Algorithms for Epicardial Adipose Tissue Analysis in Computed Tomography and their Application in Population Based Research

    Författare :David Molnar; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Epicardial adipose tissue; Artificial intelligence; Automatic analysis; Computed tomography; Coronary atherosclerosis; Pre-diabetes; Vector electrocardiography;

    Sammanfattning : The epicardial adipose tissue (EAT), which surrounds the heart and is separated from other tissues only by the thin layers of the pericardium, has enjoyed intense research for the past decades. Increased inflammatory activity in the EAT in coronary artery disease has, together with associated volumetric expansion of the EAT and changes in its radiodensity supported theories that the EAT might play a role in the pathogenesis of coronary atherosclerosis or mirror its progression better than traditional risk factors. 2. 17. Computed Tomography of Acetabular Cup Wear and Effect of Surface Roughness on Wear and Oxidation of UHMWPE Hip Prostheses

    Författare :Anneli Jedenmalm; Ulf Gedde; André Stark; Karin Jacobson; Nicklas Axén; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hip prostheses; Computed Tomography; Surface roughness; UHMWPE; Wear; Coating; Gamma-irradiation; pin-on-disc; hip simulator; Medical engineering; Medicinsk teknik;

    Sammanfattning : Aseptic loosening is the most common complication in total hip replacement (5- 10% at 10 years follow up). The magnitude of the problem is illustrated by the fact that about one million hip prostheses are implanted worldwide each year. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Quantification and Maximization of Performance Measures for Photon Counting Spectral Computed Tomography

    Författare :Moa Yveborg; Hans Bornefalk; Franz Pfeiffer; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; spectral computed tomography; silicon detector; detectability index; photon counting; Hotelling SDNR; material basis decomposition;

    Sammanfattning : During my time as a PhD student at the Physics of Medical Imaging group at KTH, I have taken part in the work of developing a photon counting spectrally resolved silicon detector for clinical computed tomography. This work has largely motivated the direction of my research, and is the main reason for my focus on certain issues. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Assessment of acetabular cup wear with computed tomography and influence of surface roughness on wear of materials for hip prostheses

    Författare :Anneli Jedenmalm; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hip prostheses; Computed Tomography; Surface roughness; UHMWPE; Wear; Coating; γ-irradiation; pin-on-disc; hip simulator; Other materials science; Övrig teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Over one million hip prostheses are implanted in patients worldwide each year and the need is increasing as the patient group of younger and more active patients is increasing. Many parameters affect the longevity of the implant, where aseptic loosening caused by wear debris is the most common reason for revision. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Characterization and Optimization of Silicon-strip Detectors for Mammography and Computed Tomography

    Författare :Han Chen; Mats Danielsson; cheng xu; Andrew Maidment; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; mammography; anti-scatter grid; photon-counting; spectral computed tomography; silicon strip; ASIC; energy resolution; Compton scatter; material decomposition; K-edge imaging; Medical Technology; Medicinsk teknologi;

    Sammanfattning : The goal in medical x-ray imaging is to obtain the image quality requiredfor a given detection task, while ensuring that the patient dose is kept as lowas reasonably achievable. The two most common strategies for dose reductionare: optimizing incident x-ray beams and utilizing energy informationof transmitted beams with new detector techniques (spectral imaging). LÄS MER
