11. Shrinkage and Related Properties of Alkali-Activated Binders Based on High MgO Blast Furnace Slag
Sammanfattning : Concrete is the second most used material in the world just after water. A drawback is that it is mostly based on Portland cement, which has an extremely high carbon footprint reaching a staggering 900 kg/tonne. The carbon dioxide emissions related to the production of the Portland cement accounts for nearly 8 % of the global total. LÄS MER
12. Structural Behavior of Reinforced High-Strength Concrete Columns
Sammanfattning : The high compressive strength of high-strength concrete is especially advantageous in compressed members such as columns, which can be made more slender and, consequently, make economic benefits possible. However, the behavior of high-strength concrete columns is not yet fully understood. LÄS MER
13. Evaluation of rock mass strength criteria
Sammanfattning : Knowledge of the rock mass behaviour in general, the failure process and the strength in particular, is important for the design of all kinds of underground excavations. One of the most common ways of estimating the rock mass strength is by using a failure criterion. LÄS MER
14. Strength and deformability of fractured rocks
Sammanfattning : This thesis presents a systematic numerical modeling framework to simulate the stress-deformation and coupled stress-deformation-flow processes by performing uniaxial and biaxial compressive tests on fractured rock models with considering the effects of different loading conditions, different loading directions (anisotropy), and coupled hydro-mechanical processes for evaluating strength and deformability behavior of fractured rocks. By using code UDEC of discrete element method (DEM), a series of numerical experiments were conducted on discrete fracture network models (DFN) at an established representative elementary volume (REV), based on realistic geometrical and mechanical data of fracture systems from field mapping at Sellafield, UK. 15. Anchorage in Concrete Structures : Numerical and Experimental Evaluations of Load-Carrying Capacity of Cast-in-Place Headed Anchors and Post-Installed Adhesive Anchors
Sammanfattning : Various anchorage systems including both cast-in-place and post-installed anchors have been developed for fastening both non-structural and structural components to concrete structures. The need for increased flexibility in the design of new structures and strengthening of existing concrete structures has led to increased use of various metallic anchors in practice. LÄS MER
