1. Can Bone Void Fillers Carry Load? : Behaviour of Calcium Phosphate Cements Under Different Loading Scenarios
Sammanfattning : Calcium phosphate cements (CPCs) are used as bone void fillers and as complements to hardware in fracture fixation. The aim of this thesis was to investigate the possibilities and limitations of the CPCs’ mechanical properties, and find out if these ceramic bone cements can carry application-specific loads, alone or as part of a construct. 2. Time dependent material properties of shotcrete for hard rock tunnelling
Sammanfattning : In this thesis different mechanical properties for shotcrete (sprayed concrete) such as compression strength, bond strength, bending tensile strength, elastic modulus, free and restrained shrinkage as a function of its age was investigated. One of the main issues was to investigate the difference between ordinary cast concrete and shotcrete. LÄS MER
3. Rock Mechanical Consequences of Refrigeration. A Study Based on a Pilot Scale Rock Cavern
Sammanfattning : The deformation of a rock mass due to temperature decrease below freezing is very complex, since many factors are involved; thermal strain, strain due to stress change, stress re-distribution, ice formation and the temperature dependency of rock mechanical and thermo-physical properties. The objective of this study was to achieve a better understanding of the rock mass response to thermo-mechanical loading when storing low temperature products in rock caverns excavated in hard crystalline rock masses. 4. Compressive failure of unidirectional NCF composites
Sammanfattning : With more people flying every year, new technologies are needed to reduce our impact on the environment. One option is to reduce the energy used in flight by introducing lighter materials such as carbon fibre reinforced polymers (CFRP). LÄS MER
5. Studies of the efficiency of granulated blast furnace slag and limestone filler in mortars - long term strength and cloride penetration
Sammanfattning : This report is the first part of the project Use of industrial by-products and filler in concrete - long term properties/durability. The aim is to improve the knowledge of long term properties/durability of cement and concrete produced using industrial by-products/fillers in order to promote an efficient, safe, reliable and increased use of such types of materials.
