21. Reduction Techniques for Finite (Tree) Automata
Sammanfattning : Finite automata appear in almost every branch of computer science, for example in model checking, in natural language processing and in database theory. In many applications where finite automata occur, it is highly desirable to deal with automata that are as small as possible, in order to save memory as well as excecution time. LÄS MER
22. On Detection and Estimation of Multiple Sources in Radar Array Processing
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with detection and estimation problems in sensor array signal processing. We treat the multiple hypothesis problem for complex sinusoids observed in spatially colored noise. LÄS MER
23. Neural Network Architecture Design : Towards Low-complexity and Scalable Solutions
Sammanfattning : Over the past few years, deep neural networks have been at the center of attention in machine learning literature thanks to the advances in computational capabilities of modern graphical processing units (GPUs). This progress has made it possible to train large scale neural networks by using thousands, and even millions, of training samples to achieve outstanding estimation accuracy in various applications that were not simply possible before. 24. Complexity and learning in timber frame housing : the case of a solid wood pilot project
Sammanfattning : An extensive governmental evaluation of the Swedish construction industry shows that it is possible to reduce production costs in housing construction through industrialisation, customer orientation, and a more efficient construction process. Today large construction companies are more and more focused on dealing with systems and coordinating large projects and the real production is getting less important. LÄS MER
25. Process intensification in mechanical pulping : Reduced process complexity and improved energy efficiency
Sammanfattning : This work shows that, for newsprint quality grades, the production processes for mechanical pulp can be simplified, and the specific electrical energy demand can be reduced with around 600 kWh/ton (30%). The purpose of the work is to demonstrate how the production cost for mechanical pulps can be decreased through increased energy efficiency and reduced number of unit operations. LÄS MER
