16. (Photo)electrochemical Water Oxidation: From Catalysis to Functional Device
Sammanfattning : The key challenge within artificial photosynthesis is achieving efficient electro- or photo-driven water oxidation catalysis, a necessary process to supply the protons for the reduction reactions, thereby enabling solar fuel production. To facilitate efficient water (photo)electrolysis for solar fuel production, this thesis focuses on two aspects: 1) elucidating the O-O bond formation mechanism and developing efficient, stable, and economical water oxidation catalysts (WOCs); 2) exploring stable, low-cost, light-absorbing photoanode materials that have suitable band structures and excellent charge diffusion properties. Sammanfattning : Proton conducting oxides have been extensively studied in the past decade due to their potential application in a number of energy related devices such as solid oxide fuel cells, hydrogen sensors, and steam electrolyzers. However, the final industrialisation of these materials depends on unlocking fundamental questions about the relationship between their atomic structure, localized proton dynamics and proton conductivity. Sammanfattning : This work focuses on the design, synthesis, characterization, and application projections of low-coordinated heavy pnictogen-containing (described by the generic letter E, hence E=C) phosphaalkenes (P=C) and arsaalkenes (As=C), with emphasis on the E=C group motifs. The work aims to understand their functional and modular character, reactivity, and potential applications by stabilizing, isolating, and characterizing these species in low-coordination environments. 20. Coordination chemistry of late transition metals with PCP ligands. Synthesis, catalysis and mechanism
Sammanfattning : Abstract The work presented in this thesis discusses synthesis of PCP-complexes and utilisations of such organometallic compounds in catalysis. The complexes, obtained by intramolecular Csp3-H activation, are based on the metals palladium, platinum and iridium. LÄS MER
