21. Assessing future effects on lake ecosystem resilience using data analysis and dynamic modelling : Modelling the effects of extreme weather events and climate warming on lakes
Sammanfattning : Extreme weather events can have short-term and long-term effects on lake thermal structure, nutrient dynamics, and community composition. Moreover, changes in lake variables induced by global climate change may influence the response and recovery of lake ecosystems to extreme weather events. LÄS MER
22. Basal lamina genes affected in leiomyomatosis and congenital muscular dystrophy : structure and mutation analyses of the collagen COL4A6 and laminin LAMA2 genes
Sammanfattning : Basal laminae (basement membranes) are flexible thin sheets of specialized extracellular matrix separating organ cells from the underlying or surrounding connective tissues. They are found beneath epithelial and endothelial cells amd surrounding different cells, such as muscle fibers and nerves. LÄS MER
23. Variation at candidate gene loci and their fuctional importance in rodent models of ethanol dependence
Sammanfattning : As genetic research has progressed, psychiatric disorders, including the addictions have emerged as moderately heritable. For alcoholism, the overall heritability has been estimated from twin studies to range between 50 to 60%. LÄS MER
24. Exposures in utero and chronic disease : an alternative methodological approach
Sammanfattning : The aims of this thesis were to evaluate maternal and birth characteristics as risk factors for breast cancer and cardiovascular disease later in life, and to assess maternal serum concentrations of insulin-like growth factors in pregnancies complicated by preeclampsia. Birth characteristics and risks of breast cancer were studied in a case-control study nested within the population-based Swedish Twin Register (Paper 1). LÄS MER
25. Trinucleotide repeats and neuropsychiatric phenotypes
Sammanfattning : Genetic studies of affective disorders have yielded several chromosomal regions suggestive for linkage. Linkage analysis was performed in five families with unipolar affective disorder, collected from northern Sweden. Four candidate regions on chromosomes 16, 18, 21 and 4p were excluded. LÄS MER
