  1. 1. Complementary feeding based on Nordic foods : effects on nutrient intake, growth, biomarkers and eating behavior

    Författare :Ulrica Johansson; Torbjörn Lind; Inger Öhlund; Lene Lindberg; Anna Winkvist; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Infant feeding; healthy diet; food preference; complementary feeding; eating behavior; repeated exposure; vegetables; fruit; Nordic diet; sustainable diet; nutrition; roots; berries; flavor learning; pediatrik; Pediatrics; Medicine; medicin; Nutrition; näringslära; Public health; folkhälsa;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Early nutrition is fundamental to growth and development. Infants develop long lasting food preferences very early in life from food exposures when the brain is impressionable and sensory pathways are receptive. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Feeding Lactobacillus paracasei ssp. paracasei strain F19 to infants during weaning : effects on adaptive immunity and gut microbial function

    Författare :Christina West; Olle Hernell; Marie-Louise Hammarström; Outi Vaarala; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; adaptive immunity; allergy; complementary food; eczema; gut microbiota; infections; probiotics; short-chain fatty acids; Th1 Th2; weaning; Paediatric medicine; Pediatrisk medicin;

    Sammanfattning : Introduction: Gut microbial composition has been associated with immune-mediated diseases. Breastfeeding yields a microbiota rich in bifidobacteria and promotes colonization by lactobacilli. Bifidobacteria and lactobacilli are considered health-promoting and are used as probiotics, i.e. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Impact of Lifestyle, Hormones, and Genes on Breast Cancer

    Författare :Maria Hietala; Bröstcancer-genetik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Breast cancer; BRCA1; BRCA2; androgen receptor; CAG; GGC; polymorphism; htSNP; oral contraceptives; testosterone; breast-feeding; prolactin; premenopausal women; CYP2D; complementary and alternative medicin; antidepressants;

    Sammanfattning : Approximately 7000 women are diagnosed and 1500 women die from breast cancer in Sweden every year. The aim of this thesis was to study the interplay of polymorphisms, hormone levels, lifestyle, and the use of concomitant medication in relation to risk and prognosis in two cohorts: one composed of young healthy women from high-risk breast cancer families and the other of breast cancer patients from the general population. 4. 4. Exclusive breastfeeding-Does it make a difference? : A longitudinal, prospective study of daily feeding practices, health and growth in a sample of Swedish infants

    Författare :Clara Aarts; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Obstetrics and gynaecology; exclusive breastfeeding; infant feeding pattern; infant growth; infant morbidity; Obstetrik och kvinnosjukdomar; Obstetrics and women s diseases; Obstetrik och kvinnosjukdomar; pediatrik; Pediatrics;

    Sammanfattning : The concept of exclusive breastfeeding in relation to daily feeding practices and to health and growth of infants in an affluent society was examined. In a descriptive longitudinal prospective study 506 mother-infant pairs were followed from birth through the greater part of the first year. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Development of mathematical modelling for the glycosylation of IgG in CHO cell cultures

    Författare :Liang Zhang; Véronique Chotteau; Michael J. Betenbaugh; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Chinese hamster ovary cells; glycosylation; IgG; mathematical modelling; experimental design; perfusion; carbon sources; GReBA; Bayesian network; probabilistic graphic model; Bioteknologi; Biotechnology;

    Sammanfattning : Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells are the most popular expression system for the production of biopharmaceuticals. More than 80% of the approved monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) or immunoglobulin G (IgG) are produced with these cells. Glycosylation is a usual post- translational modification important for therapeutic mAbs. LÄS MER
