11. Dispersing Carbon Nanotubes: Towards Molecular Understanding
Sammanfattning : Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) exhibit unique and fascinating intrinsic electrical, optical, thermal or mechanical properties that lead to a plethora of potential applications in composite materials, electronics, energy storage, medicine, among others. However, the manipulation of nanotubes is not trivial and there are significant difficulties to overcome before achieving their full potential in applications. LÄS MER
12. Molasses Purification and Valorisation : Towards a sustainable production of hydroxymethylfurfural
Sammanfattning : The industrial transition from petrochemical-based to a more sustainable and circular economy requires the utilisation of renewable biobased raw materials that do not compete with other important industries, such as the food sector, preferably wastes or low value by-products. 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) is a versatile platform chemical that has great potential for utilisation in various sectors in a future bioeconomy, as it can be produced from sugars. 13. An experimental and modeling framework for catalysis. NH3 adsorption studies for a vanadium-based SCR catalyst
Sammanfattning : Internal combustion engines will have an important role towards sustainable transportation at least in the medium term. New emission legislation is aiming to a further decrease on pollutants and an increase of fuel efficiency. LÄS MER
14. Aqueous surface chemistry of Goethite : adsorption and desorption reactions involving phosphate and carboxylic acids
Sammanfattning : Phosphorus is an essential element for all known forms of life. In the form of phosphate, this nutrient is retained in soils and sediments by sorption on mineral particles, clays and other soil constituents. LÄS MER
15. Dynamics of Polymer Adsorption onto Solid Surfaces in Good Solvent
Sammanfattning : Adsorption dynamics of various types of uncharged homopolymers onto solid surfaces in good solvent have been studied by using a coarse grained bead-spring model. Brownian dynamics simulation has been used to examine the adsorption process for polymers released near an adsorbing surface, and Monte Carlo simulations have been employed to explore equilibrium properties of adsorbed polymers.
