6. Genetically Engineered Plants: Improved stress tolerance, growth and facilitated protein purification
Sammanfattning : Heterologous genes were expressed in plants in which the overall goal was to increase the value of the final crop. Various aspects were explored and evaluated, such as improving the stress tolerance, enhancing the availability of oxygen in growing cells and producing rare proteins with increased degrees of purity. 7. Mathematical Models and Algorithms for Wireless Network Design and Optimization
Sammanfattning : Optimization techniques always play an important role in designing high-performance wireless systems. This presented thesis studies a selected set of optimization problems for different kinds of wireless networks, making use of mathematical programming techniques to find optimal solutions and of efficient heuristics to find near-optimal solutions. 8. Silicon Nanowire Based Electronic Devices for Sensing Applications
Sammanfattning : Silicon nanowire (SiNW) based electronic devices fabricated with a complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) compatible process have wide-range and promising applications in sensing area. These SiNW sensors own high sensitivity, low-cost mass production possibility, and high integration density. LÄS MER
9. Adhesive Wafer Bonding for Microelectronic and Microelectromechanical Systems
Sammanfattning : Semiconductor wafer bonding has been a subject of interestfor many years and a wide variety of wafer bonding techniqueshave been reported in literature. In adhesive wafer bondingorganic and inorganic adhesives are used as intermediatebonding material. LÄS MER
10. Production of Ectoines and Poly(3-Hydroxybutyrate): High Cell-Density Cultivation of Halomonas Boliviensis
Sammanfattning : This thesis reports a study involving the use of Halomonas boliviensis, a moderate halophile, for production of biopolyester poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) (PHB) and compatible solutes ectoine and hydroxyectoine through high cell-density cultivation comprising fed-batch cultures. PHB is a biodegradable plastic produced by bacteria as energy reserve and can potentially be used as a replacement of fossil based plastic. LÄS MER
