  1. 11. Principles and Models of Solid Fuel Combustion

    Författare :Henrik Thunman; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; wood; single particle; modelling; fluidized bed; thermochemical conversion; fixed bed; coal; thermal conductivity; fuel loading; measurements; thermochemical properties; biofuels; combustion; grate;

    Sammanfattning : Combustion of solid fuels stands for a substantial part of the heat and power production in the world. In this thesis different aspects related to the thermochemical conversion of solid fuels in fluidized and fixed beds are treated, such as: the combustion temperature of a fuel particle related to the surrounding temperature in a fluidized bed combustor (FBC); the fuel loading in a FBC; a transient description of the conversion of non-spherical fuel particles; the thermochemical properties and composition of volatiles released from wood; the thermal conductivity of wood during different stages of conversion; the modelling of a grate furnace; the general combustion behaviour of a fixed bed on a reciprocating or a travelling grate; and finally, the design and construction of experimental units for investigation of combustion in a fixed bed. 2. 12. Layer Formation on Bed Particles during Fluidized Bed Combustion and Gasification of Woody Biomass

    Författare :Hanbing He; Marcus Öhman; Kent Davidsson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; layer formation; bed particle; woody biomass; quartz; K-feldspar; olivine; bed agglomeration; deposition; fluidized bed; combustion; gasification; Energiteknik; Energy Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Although more than a hundred papers dealing with the agglomeration problem in combustion and gasification of biomass can be found in the literature, very few studies focusing on the bed particle layer formation process in fluidized bed combustion (FBC) and fluidized bed gasification (FBG) can be found. With increased knowledge of the bed particle layer formation process — i. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Modelling of biofuel combustion in fixed beds

    Författare :Robert Johansson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; packed bed; fixed bed; biofuel; combustion; modelling;

    Sammanfattning : Fixed bed combustion is common is small to medium scale heat production in grate furnaces and domestic boilers. Modelling of these fuel beds can give a better understanding of the conversion process inside them, and provide a tool for analyzing the performance of furnaces and problems related to the fuel bed. 4. 14. Development and Application of Non-linear Mid-infrared Laser Spectroscopy for Combustion Diagnostics

    Författare :Zhiwei Sun; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Degenerate four-wave mixing; Polarization spectroscopy; Mid-infrared; Non-linear laser spectroscopy; Laser diagnostics; Combustion; Flame; HITRAN; Concentration; Temperature; Fysicumarkivet A:2012:Sun;

    Sammanfattning : The work reported in this thesis involved the development and application of two novel infrared non-linear laser techniques, namely mid-infrared polarization spectroscopy (IRPS) and mid-infrared degenerate four-wave mixing (IR-DFWM) to combustion diagnostics. These two techniques meet the needs of species concentration detection in combustion environments, especially for those species lacking accessible electronic (one-photon) transitions in the ultraviolet (UV) or visible spectral region. 5. 15. Towards sustainable heavy-duty transportation : Combustion and emissions using renewable fuels in a compression ignition engine

    Författare :Maja Novakovic; Förbränningsmotorer; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; RME; HVO; E85; methanol; ethanol; decarbonization; defossilization; heavy-duty; compression-ignition engine; ow temperature combustion; PPC; emissions; PM; particles; aerosol; OA; SOA; DOC;

    Sammanfattning : Transportation should become sustainable and available to everyone. Currently, transportation accounts for approx. one sixth of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions globally, and heavy-duty trucks are responsible for almost 30% of that. LÄS MER
