  1. 1. Immunological Checkpoint Blockade and TLR Stimulation for Improved Cancer Therapy

    Författare :Sara Mangsbo; Thomas Tötterman; Angelica Loskog; Rolf Kiessling; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; CpG ODNs; TLR-9; CTLA-4; PD-1; PD-L1; B7. Sammanfattning : This thesis concerns the investigation of novel immunotherapies for cancer eradication. CpG therapy was used in order to target antigen-presenting cells (APCs), facilitating antigen presentation and activation of T cells. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Modeling of combination therapy to support drug discovery in oncology

    Författare :Tim Cardilin; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Nyckelord :Pharmacokinetics Pharmacodynamics; Oncology; Nonlinear Mixed-Effects Models; Model-Based Drug Development; Combination Therapy;

    Sammanfattning : Mathematical models based on ordinary differential equations, with impulses, are used to describe tumor growth after different treatment combinations, including chemicals as well as radiation. The models are calibrated, using a nonlinear mixed-effects framework, based on time series data of tumor volume from animal experiments. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Experimental therapies of malignant glioma : with emphasis on angiogenesis inhibition

    Författare :Maria Sandström; Roger Henriksson; Mikael Johansson; Anja Smits; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; glioma; angiogenesis; VEGF; tyrosinekinaseinhibitor; ZD6474; plasminogenactivator; tPA; uPA; proteomics; Oncology; Onkologi;

    Sammanfattning : Malignant glioma consists of a group of diseases where the localisation and the nature of the disease makes treatment an extreme challenge. Two important biological features of malignant glioma cells are their infiltrative growth and their ability to induce angiogenesis. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Combination Therapies Targeting PDGF and VEGF Signaling Pathways in Solid Tumors

    Författare :Agnieszka Kłosowska-Wardęga; Carina Hellberg; Carl-Henrik Heldin; Per Lindahl; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Oncology; Onkologi;

    Sammanfattning : Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) are independently involved in several cancer-associated mechanisms including autocrine stimulation of cancer cells, stimulation of tumor angiogenesis and regulation of interstitial fluid pressure (IFP). The scope of this thesis was to investigate the combinatory effect of anti-VEGF and anti-PDGF treatment on tumor angiogenesis and tumor IFP. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Regulation of DNA damage responses by the Myc oncogene : implications for future anti-cancer therapies

    Författare :Andreas Höglund; Jonas Nilsson; Thomas Helleday; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Myc; DNA damage; Decitabine; Chk1; Chk2; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Myc is a transcription factor frequently found deregulated in human cancer. Cells with deregulated expression of Myc carry a selective advantage against its neighbours due to the fact that Myc-mediated transcription governs crucial cellular events such as proliferation and growth.
