1. An Environmental Approach to PVC Stabilisation
Sammanfattning : We were interested in investigating the stabilisation behaviour of 6-aminouracils, a new class of heavy metal free thermo-stabiliser for PVC. We have therefore investigated the performance and mechanism of stabilisation for 1,3-dibutyl-6-aminouracil, both alone, and in combination with a sodium perchlorate co-stabiliser. LÄS MER
2. Colour – A Reliable Quality-Control Tool for Industrial Thermowood® Production
Sammanfattning : The objective of the work presented in this doctoral thesis has been to correlate the commercial output of ThermoWood® process with a pre-defined, quantifiable, non-destructive measurable parameter - colour, and to show the feasibility of measurements to be the essential part of the internal and external quality-control system. Colour is the most evident property changed of thermally-modified timber (TMT). LÄS MER
3. Reactions in the System Nitro-cellulose/ Diphenylamine with Special Reference to the Formation of a Stabilizing Product Bonded to Nitro-cellulose
Sammanfattning : The methods HPLC, microcalorimetry and FTIR together with chemometry, provide good analytical tools to follow the degradation of nitro-cellulose.The degradation products formed from diphenylamine (DPA) during storage can be followed with HPLC. FTIR, together with chemometry, also gives the precision needed for safety control of propellants. LÄS MER
4. Wood colour related to kiln drying
Sammanfattning : Raised temperature in artificial drying has led to some changes of wood products such as colour and strength etc. For special treatment of wood-products with clearly modified properties, among them colour, is often high temperature and steam used industrially. LÄS MER
5. Heat treatment of solid wood : effects on absorption, strength and colour
Sammanfattning : Wood is a useful construction material, but it has less desirable properties such as poor durability and poor dimensional stability. These problems can be reduced by using various chemical treatments. Increased environmental awareness has raised the demand for more environmentally friendly methods. LÄS MER
