1. Doppler Velocimetry in the Evaluation of Fetal Well-Being
Sammanfattning : Ultrasound Doppler velocimetry was used to predict fetal well-being. The uterine artery blood velocimetry seemed to be a good predictor of perinatal outcome in high-risk pregnancies and a complement to umbilical artery velocimetry. The fetal middle cerebral artery blood velocimetry might be an early sign of fetal hypoxia. LÄS MER
2. Laser Doppler perfusion imaging : methodology and skin applications
Sammanfattning : Over the last decade a number of emerging technologies have become available for the non-invasive study of skin anatomy and physiology. In this thesis, a method for mapping tissue perfusion based on the laser Doppler technique is presented together with some of the associated experimental and clinical applications. LÄS MER
3. Ultrasonography for Diagnosis, Intervention and Follow-up in Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis
Sammanfattning : Early therapeutic intervention and the use of novel, highly effective treatments in juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) have improved the outcome in many diseased children, but have also increased the need for more precise methods for evaluating disease activity. In this context, both ultrasonography (US) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) play an important role in adult rheumatology, although these methods have yet not been fully evaluated in JIA. LÄS MER
4. Tissue Doppler in Spectral and Color ModeMethodological ConsiderationsNon-invasive Estimation of Left Ventricular Filling Pressures using the E/Em index
Sammanfattning : Aims: Tissue Doppler (TD) in spectral mode (spectral TD) and color TD are the two modalities available today in tissue velocity echocardiography (TVE). Measurements of left ventricular (LV) myocardial velocities and displacement may yield different results depending on the employed sonographic modality and the subjective adjustments during data analysis. 5. Clinical Studies on Dark Adaptation: with Particular Reference to Carotid Artery Disease
Sammanfattning : Purpose: To study dark adaptation in patients with symptomatic carotid artery disease or polycythemia before and after treatment. This necessitated determinations of pupillary changes as such may influence the findings. To determine whether changes in the retinal blood flow in light and darkness occur in healthy humans. LÄS MER
